Rickety rig

Rickety Rig

You have probably been on a sky ship late at night when the moon’s rays shine brightly only on you. Remember how it feels too, when the cold breeze quietly glides through the night.I bet you’ve enjoyed the view of the golden sand on the beach.

But you should also try a trip where the wind is howling and hail the size of tennis balls hits down at the deck, slowly making indents . When snow ‘meteors’ down, filling up the bottom deck and captain’s quarters from last trip. That’s when a sky ship journey isn’t very nice.

You  probably won’t believe me, but some people say that there are dark horse riders … But there are angry red beasts with sharp talons and curtain-like wings who breathe fire! Some people say they’re dragons. Do you think they are?

James was shaking as he clung to the bow of the skyship, yet his sister Gemma was having a blast in the snow storm. Suddenly, the winds were heaving them left to right, left to right. They only left at sunrise to go back to Suntown village. What had happened to the course?

Abruptly, massive red beasts with razor sharp talons, thumping large wings and deep eyes screeched at the sky ship in rage. James ran to lower deck to hide. Gemma screamed and it got the attention of captain Crackshot. Suddenly, snow passed through the ship, not a sight of any crew mates left. It was just the captain, James and Gemma. In horror at the disappearance of the crew, they prepared to land.

Half way through the descent, the ship became calmer. They gently glided down to a river for the night. James peeked up the stairs. Where did the dragons go?

Dragon poem

The dragon hunches over the treasure, growling, ready for entrance by any attackers.

Eyes like the deep sea lapping over the threshold of the cave.

The skin like spiderwebs reflects the glimmering treasure a kaleidoscope of blood curdling death.

The blood dripping jaws make any person petrified.

Teeth like silver spears invade your nightmares.

Tongue twisting razor-rough tongue impales the bone.

The scales are like chainmail burnt and scratched from hunters.

His spine hunches over, old and weak.

The wings like closed curtains thump down after each flap.

Claws like the ends of sharp pencils writing their chalkboard screeches over their victims.

The dragon gets into position

The attackers charge

BANG!!!

You are poem

You are the victim in someone’s nightmare, the hero in someone’s dream.
You are a sacred snake slithering on the temple of the forest floor.

You are a question floating in someone’s mind, unanswered like the meaning of life.

You are a super sausage dog, sprinting to save a struggling snail from a seagull.

You are a marshmallow, sweet as a grandma’s smile.

You are the taste of a fresh lemon in a lemonade drink.

You are the smell of lavender candles in a cold winter night.

You are the sound of chirping birdsong in an autumn morning.

You are the memory of a childhood bear in a lonely child’s heart.

You are in the lion’s eye and the giraffe’s pause.

You are as sad as a snail, yet happy as a sunflower.

You are cautious, like a parent crossing the road with their child.

You are the sun in someone’s down-cast life.
