Podkin chapter 1

The beginning

That night, Podkin, Pook and Paz sat at the dinner table nibbling on their oat bread in silence. After what had happened they had nothing to say. Instead, they thought through the day over and over in their minds, how their mother had been taken to the gorm and consumed and how their Aunt had been killed before their eyes. Podkin shivered, he didn’t like the thought, however he couldn’t think of anything to say, so he took one last bite and left. He lay in bed, along with Paz and Pook, continuing with his thoughts. As it struck midnight, Podkin got out of bed, he couldn’t sleep with everything swooping around his troubled mind.He tiptoed down the stairs but then he noticed something on the clock. It was blue and had a sense of magic. Within seconds Podkin was hypnotised by it’s beauty, all he had come down for was a snack but what happened was very different. He stumbled towards the clock not once taking his eye of the blue light, it was getting bigger by each step he took. By the time he was close the blue light was big enough for him to step through and being hypnotised, he did…He woke up in a chamber, a familiar chamber. It was from his church. He looked around and noticed blood on the altar, glass in the seats and the bible had a red handprint on the first page. He then smelt rotten flesh mainly coming from the stained glass windows…At the back of the church he heard a creek. Instantly, he turned around then he saw a shadow growing bigger. He checked around for a hiding spot and settled his sight on the front row of seats. He sprinted over to them and then ducked, pulling down his one ear but managing to sneak a sight of the figure…He was from the gorm. Podkin grabbed the nearest pillows and hid behind them he sat in fear of what would happen next. Couldn’t he have just gone to sleep, then none of this would have happened.

Salamance

Once upon a time there was a boy called Salamance who, as this story was in the time before humans, was a rabbit. One day, a rumour went round the warren that the Moriats were back and that they were thriving. Two days later, an emergency call was received from the bronze water warren saying that the Moriats attacked the wood rabbit warren and there were only 4 survivors.

Interestingly, it was the chieftain’s two sons and two daughters who survived the attack and they were heading to the bronze water warren. The children’s names were Salamance, Prowler, Rose and Poppy.  However, these children from the wood rabbit warren did not know that the bronze water warren had already been taken over by the Moriats. They were on the way to bronze water warren when they heard the heavy clunking of iron and so they set a trap. The trap was that whoever stepped on a old, rotting log in the middle of the path would activate a tripwire and the ground they were stood on would fall into the pit, carrying the Moriats with it.

Lopkin one eye- by Bert

Chapter one – refugees!

Let me introduce you to some friends of mine, Lopkin, Jason and Amber. Now, you may be thinking to yourself, well these are three ordinary children with ordinary names, but this is where your rong. These three are far from that- oh no. These three little ones are hares. Now, you may have a lot of questions but be patient.

So, these three live off the coast of a small island called Mount Dover. They may not know this yet (but yet again, why should they, tucked up in there cosy beds at Heath Clock Mound) but they were destined for an adventure as the dreaded Gorm set out to catch their lives like snatching a fly.

Suddenly, a sentry came shooting down the steps to the mound. Then, he sprawled on the floor- he was speechless. Lopkin then noticed it was Grooble- one of the oldest hear. Out of nowhere, chaos rained. All hell was breaking loose and the worst of it was that they had good reason. The Gorm was coming. He was puled out of the room.

He woke up and took in his surroundings…

His older brother was staring back at him. “ How you feeling “, he warbled through a mouth full of crunchy lettuce. Lopkin muted “Fine”, and snached up a piece of dry tomato, asking what happened. Jason informed him, leaving out no details. Apparently, many of the tribe had set out to find shelter and safety. Their mother had made Jason swear an oath to go- with his brother and sister- to Fortilla. He suddenly brandished a map of where to go with instructions. She stayed behind to defend home. Where they were at now was a secret bunker. There were many scattered around the place, each equipped with: stacks on stacks of food; a cosy atmosphere; a tiny bed; water and warmth. They would set out at dawn…

The escape by Leo

It all started in a creepy old forest at about 12.30pm. When a gang of boys called Jude, they were Jack and Fin. The air was cold dark and crisp and the moon light cast shadows from the trees which made everything a little more eerie.

Jude was the leader of the gang, the adventureous and fearless one and was always playing practical jokes on the others. Jack on the other hand was a little more timid and even though they were best friends they were completely different. Finely the quirky one he was quik whitted and smart. The trio were “Inseparable brother’s for life”.

The Maid

THE MAID

This story begins all the way back at Dark Mod Warren, where I (Popkin) was ready for anything.  I trained 24-7 everyday from the age of five. Now though I’m bored of waiting so I decided to go off and find adventure with my younger brother Tethop and older sister Perka and that’s where the story full of betrayal, friendship and victory starts…

We were walking around in the deep, dark wood when we saw a little window in a tree.  Unsurprisingly, we headed towards it.  Anticipation, wonder, curiosity – which would keep us walking further?  By the way we are all rabbits.  Wishing we were doing the right thing, we crept closer wondering who might live in the tall, dark oak tree.  Suddenly, we stopped, our ears twitching.  A shrill shriek echoed around.  What was in there?  As we got closer, on a door as tall as a penguin, a sign said Go to the Maid!  Everyone knew what the Maid was – it was a gigantic mansion (for a rabbit), which was peeling with paint, that everyone stayed away from and I made the mistake of going to it.

The inside was worse than the outside.  With so many rooms I lost count; one with a single table and chair, another with a single bed sitting lonely in the middle of it and the worst one of all was a mirror maze.  After what felt like an hour, they reached a dead end and took a moment to take in what they had just seen.  Unfortunately, they all knew which room they had to go in.  When they finally got back to the mirror maze they all nodded to each other and cautiously went in.  They had no idea what awaited them…

Podkin One-Ear

Chapter 1

Here is the unfortunate story of Bob, Barry, Barbra and Chris.

You see, this started all the way back  in 1999. The group (all family) were flying back to the UK from their  visit to America. When they were flying over Nothingland the plane lost all connection with the engines and sadly crashed into the depths of the land below. Bob said to the rest, ” Is everyone ok? Ow” “Yeah.” said everyone else in the group. Then Chris spoke,” So we are now trapped here with probably  an escape route. Maybe somewhere up north. so let’s work out where in the world we are.” whispered Chris as he spat out the words. They made their way through the woods looking for anything useful and then a couple of hours later Barbra found something that will change their life for ever. “Look what I found guys! It’s an old map!” shouted Barbra. Chris looked at it then replied, ” Yes indeed that is a map.”

As they followed the map they came across a forest. They looked at the map and realized they came across Weeping Woods. Bob’s legs gave in and he fell to the ground and wept. Then Chris started to cry and said, ” I know why we are crying its because we are in Weeping Woods and its very dangerous for us.” Then he fell to the ground and had a panic attack. The rest followed apart from Bob. He did not know what was about to happen…

chapter 1 the escape

One stormy Christmas, a visitor knocked on the door of a warm, cosy burrow. The stranger said “I am the one who has been asked by the chief to tell the stories.” the guards of the burrow immediately let him inside.

The story teller came and said “Gather round children of the burrow and let me tell you the story of three extraordinary rabbits Percy, Pam and Popko.”

A long time ago, not far from here, stood one of the greatest burrows ever made. People came from far and wide to visit and stay there. The people of the burrow  probably had the kindest chief you could imagine and his children did extraordinary things. Their names were Percy, Pam and Popko. The oldest of the siblings was Pam then two years younger brother Percy and the baby Popko.

On a night like tonight came the Gorm, the most feared monsters to ever exist. The wife of the chief told her children to run away first through the tremendous trenches, then through the frightening forest and finally to the crevassing caves, the only place the Gorm cannot go because they cannot enter rooms made of rock. Off the bunnies set with food they were given by their mother. Hand in hand they treaded amongst the heavy snow. Percy was thinking about  what could happen to them. Will they get out alive?
