mander

Chapter 3

A few days later we are in a fish & chip shop. I can smell the chips frying. Outside, the mist covers the roads. All I want to do is stay inside and stay warm, outside, ice slides down streets as the temperature drops. However Jerry has plans to catch the puggamander. Reluctantly I agreed to Jerry’s dangerous
mission.

I soon discover that Jerry has found evidence of the puggamander, he has seen paw prints on the sand.
He claims that the puggamander is in a cave on the beach.

We leave the fish and chip shop and head to the beach. The sky is heavy with dropping rain, yellow beams strike mountains around the city and sky rumbles overhead. At last we reach the beach we see paws so we followed them and it led us to a cave a rocky cave we walked in to the cave and it was dark so we turned on a flash light and looked around we walked slowly in we see fur everywhere.

I am surprised to see the fur. But there is definitely evidence that it was here Jerry sears come on lets explore. But I feel a bit nauseous. So we should head back there’s an egg it looks like it is a puggamander they touch the egg and then they go to leave and the puggamander runs out and grails they slowly walk back but he cashiered them.

The octomander week 3

Chapter 3

20 minutes later we are traveling up the stairs to my comfy cozy attic room and when we get up there we sit on my bed drinking hot chocolate. Outside, the crack of dawn had just broken. Inside, we are relaxing and drinking our hot chocolate. “Right” Veronica begins . “do you want to here my plan”. I brace myself.

Just then I figured out that Veronica has gone searching on the beach and has found evidence without me. Apparently, whilst I’ve been searching nappies; she has been searching beaches.

I lock up and make sure that the spare key is still under the mat (for just incase I lose my keys) then we set of into cold dark night down to the beach. Veronica was jumping and was really excited to show me the evidence she found. I froze.

“See?” Veronica yelled “You see it don’t you?”                                                                                                                          “Yeah, but what is it ?” I ask.                                                                                                                                                                     “The octomander’s ink from It’s tentacles. Look there’s a trail of it ” Veronica exclaims                                                    “He he I g….g…guess there is ” I stamper “We sh…..sh….should go” I say grabbing her arm. Her eyes tell a different story.

“Come on Spike what’s wrong?” Veronica asked. I didn’t answer. But she pulled me along anyway. We come to a beach hut and Veronica pulls me inside. In the corner there is a nest. Inside there is an egg! Veronica takes a step forward; I take a step back.

A shiver runs down my spine. “We should go” I say grabbing Veronica’s arm and run. I trip over a lose floor board and twist my ankle. I don’t realise the pain for there is something more dangerous. The tentacles of the octomander.

Chapter 3 of The penguinmander by Bella SWW

Chapter 3 by Bella SWW
The next morning we are sat in the cleaners dormitory (It is really my room though, as there are no other other cleaners). We are having a what Shanti calls a mander meeting, in my defence it is pretty boring. Luckily I am drinking some hot chocolate and the heater is on so that is keeping me happy, whereas outside it is freezing and snow has covered the whole Antarctic aquarium. Just as I’m starting to enjoy my hot chocolate, Shanti stands up. “Time to go, I have a plan” Shanti squeals with excitement, “I know where it lives”. I sigh “good bye hot chocolate” I think unhappily.

I turns out, that Shanti had spent the whole night last without me; apparently, she has been searching for evidence. She claims, to have found the same snow trail as we found on the beach a couple of nights ago, in the aquarium but she did not tell me where about in the building (To be honest I am very glad that I did not go).

I lock up the dormitory, and set of down stairs with Shanti skipping merrily behind me. It is night so I insist on having torches because I worry we might trip over the creature. Shanti gave up fighting and in the end took them. It was cold in the corridors and damp, it was so dark and the torches were so dim we could barely see. I felt like I had been trapped in a nightmare. We had reach the bottom of the steps, and stop at the one door that says ‘PRIVATE’. I explain that that is where are manager does what he needs to do. Though she says that danger is just a reason to do what ever it is. Suddenly I find myself following her.

I never thought I would believe Shanti, but there it was, a trail of black snow clearer than ever. They lead to to a high shelf at the back of the room, and there sat something on top. Then Shanti walks towards it, instead of leading me into trouble, she is leading herself into trouble.

Inside the office it is dark, and only one faded candle flickers weakly as if it going too fade soon. My heart pounded looking at it, but to see Shanti walking towards it makes my heart skip a beat. I had to do something, I just feel too terrified to do any thing. “look” calls Shanti, “The penguinmander has an egg!”

Suddenly I feel a stab of guilt run through my heart, I shiver. I know we should not be here. We have to go. “LETS GO!” I shout finally finding my confidence. She ignored because she had seen something, now I have seen him. It had curled out from behind the egg, I recognised its squinted eyes. It is the penguinmander. Again. I am afraid so I step back. Shanti was Confident so she stepped forward.

Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Two days later, we are in a café. Outside you can hear the rain darting on the roads. Inside, we are enjoying some warming milk on the leather chairs. “This is the best milk” I never want to leave. However, Tom has plans. ” Karma, lets get a move on! We have got to go to the caves, its where the Snakemander is keeping all of its supplies!” I find out that Tom has been scouting at the beach searching for evidence of the Snakemander while I have been asking myself questions whilst I’ve been busy posting mail. He claims that he has found shredded pieces of snake skin, just like two days before like when we found snake skin on the pier and found little spots of venom there too. . I pay the bill and we leave the café and head to the beach. The weather is yet again thunder booms across the beach the sky was the coulure of gloom .At last we reach the caves and I look to see what clues there is. In the cave there is empty skin, puddles of venom and a broken piece of it’s tooth. I am surprised to that there’s a wonky line through the sand that looks like an s. But there is diffidently the snakemander in there “let’s go in then” said Tom “But I feel terrified I suggest that we head back to the post office and not go near that cave. Tom headed into the cave I didn’t want Tom to go alone so I came with him as we walk inside I discover a scaly dark grey egg standing on a stone pedestal . In that moment I feel petrified because I can hear a strange hiss in the darkness so we should not go further. “Lets get out of here” said Karama But the it is the snakemander.

Mouseamander Week 3

Chapter 3 A couple of days later we sit together in the silent calm room of the Post-Office, it’s all very peaceful. However, outside the wind whistles gently across the sea making the waves elegantly lap over the sand, it was fine. Amazingly, inside was warm and comfortable, we were sipping (my favourite drink) Hot Chocolate, it was perfect with our socks drying on the radiator, and our shoes laying by the door-mat. At this time I wasn’t surprised at this comment which Jennifer made she quietly whispered, “You know what I know where the mouseamander lives, it lives of the south coast of the beach.” I tried to speak but I couldn’t; because I knew it wouldn’t make a difference. I sighed, and prepared myself for a long tiring trip across the coast. Dread rushed through me and I excepted near fright.

I soon figure out that Jennifer has gone to find some more important evidence about the mouseamander, to be truthful I have zero regrets while closing the shutters and windows of the Post-Office. Jennifer claims that she has found suspicious claw prints in the damp sand, and scrapes of the jagged rocks of an ancient cave. And blood splotches on the Marram grass- holding the sand dunes together- and the sand whips up on the plane revelling some rotten teeth.

I lock the doors of the Post-Office and close the attic shutters and make sure that all of the extra lights are turned off so that the electricity bill doesn’t rise; because it is to high at the moment. I get my sodden walking boots and get my waterproof jacket from the main cupboard. Suddenly, the wind whistled and made the fire grate howl ferociously. The mist surrounds us while we were walking across the promenade trying to get to the beach, 15 minutes later we arrive near the large cliffs and peer out to see admiring the view of the dark cerulean sea. It is rather like the mist is purposely surrounding us, we walk a bit further and then we see a battered sign in dark red saying Danger be careful. I saw Jennifer take no notice of it and spurred on. Suddenly, the seagulls screech and the waves crash against the jagged out-crops of rocks. I cautiously, walk towards Jennifer.

I doubted Jennifer’s find but she was telling the truth, Honestly, there was glass like sand and steam rising up from the marram grass, I thought to myself that the mouseamander must of travelled here recently. Without warning I fell over in the large hole I gulp; the hole was not that big but it was very deep as though someone dug the hole purposely. The large holes lead to a small cave I could see what Jennifer wanted to do. She wanted to go inside the cave, she flicked he torch on and stared at me happily.

By now the rain has stopped and the wind has dropped. Although we are so many km from the beach the sand is still so wet and damp, the silence edges us forwards into the cave. We soon get into the main part of the cave I smell like the sewer but the emptiness is quite nice. We soon find a small nest containing something, we both knew what it was, It was a shimmering mouseamander egg.

In that moment, I feel a small poke of guilt and fear. I have just noticed what we have walked through, we have walked through the mouseamander’s home (cave) I freeze fright rushing through me and dread trickling down me, my spine shudders. I quickly whisper trying to keep my voice down, “Come on please, let’s go right now” Jennifer shrugs and walks forwards along the dank sand. I look behind me and see a looming figure stand proud and makes a small quiet squeak. I freeze and hold my breath hard and even more Harder. I regret everything. Gingerly, I retrieve my torch and shine it full blast to try to blind the anonymous creature, I didn’t work. The mouseamander! Jennifer take one step forward; I take one step back.

moramander chapter 3

Two days later, Charlotte and I are in the warmth and comfort of my attic, taking long slurps of hot chocolate, my favorite drink. We sit in silence. well, almost silence, as we are still slurping our hot choc. I am also dipping some posh biscuits ( that where bought two months ago and aren’t out of date yet ) into the chocolate dunking drink. I posted this on Instagram, and it immediately got fifty likes. Unexpectedly, charlotte breaks the silence, “Right, finish your drink, I’ve got something to show you!” My heart sinks.

I discover that while I’ve been sweeping floorboards, my companion has been scavenging the beach caves and searching the golden, evening sand for evidence. And when I collected this weeks cash, she collected something spectacular. . .

I lock up The Stargazer’s Catch and try to catch up with Charlotte, trying not to look full of despair. We stroll along the seafront, the wind roaring in our faces as I follow my companion into the unknown. I run, desperate to catch up with Charlotte, who is leading the way with bravery and fearlessness. She stops. We’re here.

We see a trail that looks like something slithered into a cave. I was not easily convinced but we eventually enter a dark cave full of strange noises, puddles and other extraordinary things. I can tell Charlotte will get me into even more trouble than I’m already in. . .

We turn on the torches and discover that the cave is full of brightly-colored gemstones that shimmer in the torch light; the rock pool puddles look mirror-like in the white light; and something spectacular surrounded by what might be a moat. What lies in the center dazzled my eyes in awe. Surrounded in a nest made of coral and seaweed, a deep, ocean blue egg, dazzling my eyes with awe.

I shy away from the water as Charlotte snaps pictures of herself and the glinting gems, unaware of the danger behind her. I shout her name. She responds in a glare that probably means: would you mind? I’m trying to take selfies here. Then she shrinks down into the corner. I turn around and we run towards the entrance. Suddenly, our only exit is blocked by what looks like a giant eel opening a fang-framed mouth, revealing another set of mandibles, bloody teeth guarding the entrance to the stomach. . .

Chapter 3 By Bobby SWW

Chapter 3 Two days later, we sat in silence in the basement, we slowly take a bite ( of my favorite biscuit) chocolate biscuits and dip into our cup of teas. Outside, the wind whistles, inside we enjoyed the log fire . “Lets go outside!” “why would you want to go outside in this weather?” “its not much just some bottles flying everywhere” you can tell she wants to go outside.

I discover not along ago the Cassy has be investigating when I was doing something else; when I was working, she was out getting evidences.

We turned off all the lights before we leave and locked up the the fish and chips shop. We make sure that we are wrapped up warm got torches then its time to set off to the beach . The mist made it harder to see in front of us. The wind made our hair go all over the place. I thought to myself why am I following her?

I hadn’t believed that Cassy but the footprints are quite clear. They was leading to a cave. It looked like it was a old rail way we went for a bit then we stopped.

As we deep as we got into the cave, it was getting colder Old minecarts everywhere: old rails; old tools; and much more. We walker more into the cave, we got to a bit where it was a bit strange where was seaweed everywhere slime all over the walls, then there was something in the corner of my eye it was a egg.

Cassy did not go anywhere close. “We should not be here” suddenly, there was mist and we could not see anything then the mist stopped and there was a big monster I did not know what it was. I grabbed Cassy hand and ran into a little gap in the wall then I realized how are we going to get out ?

Chapter 3: The foxamander

The next day we’re sat on my comfy bed in the Shake Hut. Outside, the wind howls and makes all the leaves scatter along the pavement as hails hammering on the windows. Inside, were sitting on my cosy bed drinking hot chocolate (which is my favourite drink) and getting warm by the heater. Of course Maddy starts to mention something about yesterday. “So,” she begins, “I’ve thought of what happened yesterday a bit more and I think I’ve made a plan.” I give out a huge sigh as she starts to draw something on a bit of paper. I think I’m ready for another one of her crazy ideas.

It turns out that Maddy has been roaming about in town and trying to find clues about the foxamander. With her own eyes, she claims she has seen pieces of fur by the edge of the sea and ink splatters on the railings. I can’t believe she’s gone out without me! But I’m not really sure whether I’d even want to do that. So while I’ve been sleeping, she’s been a sly.

I check all the windows are shut tight and then head out. I twist the key in the door as Maddy is already heading to where she found the clues. This time I remember to have my snug coat and my headlight. My feet pounded against the sandy pavement; Maddy was in front leading the way. My brunette hair whips against my face by the whistling wind. Maddy finally stops and beckons me. “Jaydon, is it just me or can you see this too?” yells Maddy. She turns and points to something.

I had completely no clue what it was but I was totally shocked on what I saw: chewed up meat and leaves; clear footprints; and slobber trails. “Um Maddy, I think w…w…we should go n…n…now!” I stammered. I tried to pull her back to my room but her eyes were fixed on something different.

The weather had calmed down a bit and Maddy had found a rocky cave. Even the waves crashes had stopped. There was silence. Complete silence. We decided to take a step into a cave and we seen something glow. Maddy wanted to go and have a look while I was behind. She whispered “It’s an egg!” I came to have a look and it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. It was an orange Ombre pattern and has glistening specks of white placed in it.

In that very moment, I felt guilty like I never have before. We were looking at something that belongs to the foxamander and if he catches us, then we’ll be in big trouble. “Maddy, I think we should leave now! We’ve investigated enough!” I exclaim. I try to tug her arm but she wants to stay for longer. I wanted to tell her that it’s not a very good idea but she kept on telling me to shush. Something scratches my arm and a drop of blood runs down my arm. I heard a quiet hiss and it came from behind me. What was it? There it was. The foxamander. Maddy steps forward. What was she thinking?

Flamemander Chapter 3 by Vienna SWW

Chapter 3 A few days later, we sit in silence in my cosy little basement, we take slow bites of (my favourite food) chocolate cake. Outside, the wind picks up, fog starts to close in and the sea thrashes against the rocks. Inside, I snuggle up in my blanket and Wilbur turns up the electric heater. Unsurprisingly, Wilbur does not sit still for long, he jumps up, “Alright,” he begins “are you ready for more adventures!” I roll my eyes and mumble ” alright then!”

I am soon to find out that the mysterious boy that I have been following around, has gone off investigating without me; apparently, whilst I have been nice and snug, he has been snooping around town. He has found a large trail of scorch marks leading to some caves.

Grabbing my coat and locking the door to my basement, I turn around the see Wilbur is already disappearing in the fog. I race to keep up with Wilbur’s fast feet. We are wasting no time, speeding along the beach, Marram grass scratching my legs as we run past them. “Niki, see?” Wilbur yells above the wind. I squint trying to see what he is pointing at and whisper to myself “Oh I never thought this is what I would be doing today.”

I had not believed Wilbur until now, just gazing at the massive scorch mark made me feel scared. There are serval sets of footprints and scorch marks, there are two distinct sets of footprints, one leading towards the sea and one leading into the dark cave stood before us. I put on my torch and look around. “Come on, let’s go in!” Shouts Wilbur excitedly, I sigh and follow him in. I know we are walking into trouble!

The rain pours. Its totally dark. It smells mouldy and water drips from the roof of the cave. Dagger like crystals glimmer in the torchlight. I trudge on alert and scared, my eyes scan the room looking for any danger. Just as I think we are all alone and start to relax, Wilbur finds something. There is a smaller cave, with a nest made with wet seaweed. In the centre of the nest there is a rather large egg, glowing orange. The flamemander has an egg!

All of a sudden I feel a stab of guilt. “We should not be here,” I whisper. I tug at Wilbur’s arm, turning to make my way out of the cave. But something is blocking our way; its shadow towers over us. There are low growls and the sound of wet feet hitting stone. Suddenly, we get hit by the smell of rotten fish and mould. We both hold our torches like weapons ready to run. The flamemander! Wilbur steps forwards; I leap back.

Octomander part 3

Chapter 3
A couple days later, we are sat in my room, drinking hot chocolate-my second favourite drink. The heater is on
full blast and we are covered in blankets, taking slow and cautious sips. Outside, the wind howls like an injured
wolf. Inside, it is warm and snuggly with the heater on and we drink rich, chocolaty hot chocolate.
Unsurprisingly, Oscar has an idea. He wants to go out. Oscar wants to go and see the octomander. ‘I know where
the octomander lives! I have a plan!’ Obviously, he is the more adventurous one of us. I sigh, ‘Here we go again!’.
I live in a bookshop so I don’t really go out.
To my surprise, Oscar has been discovering evidence without me! Apparently, he has found footprints, ink splats
and half-eaten pebbles. In the freezing cold! Without me! Whilst I have been making hot chocolate and keeping
up with the latest books and authors, he has been keeping up with the octomander!
Locking up A New Chapter, Oscar has already run far ahead of me and his Mackintosh is flying off his body.
Doing up my puffa jacket, I sigh, quite heavily. ‘See!’ he shouts over the enveloping wind. What is he pointing to
? I walk closer, trying to scope it through the almost impenetrable fog and mist. I run over to the lamppost.
‘What is that?’. The wind and fog blows against us. The waves uprush the wall.
I run closer. I am so shocked by what I see. Oscar is pointing to the sand. ‘Oh…oh what is that?’ I ask, afraid.
‘An octomander sucky cuppy thingy!’ He replies, amazed.
‘Eugh! Also, its called a suction cup.’ I grab Oscar’s arm ‘Why is it moving?’ We walk into the cave.
Water drips from the top and splats on the ground. Green and pink rocks were glued to the wall. As we walk
closer, we see it. A nest, an ordinary nest, but it’s contents are far from ordinary. It is green and glowing, but
transparent. Shrivelled grass and flaming sand are in the nest. There is a broken egg shell that is yellow on the
inside and there is black ink. About to execute a swift exit, I make for the opening to the cave. Before I reach
the opening, Oscar grabs me around the waist and says, ‘Wait! I want to explore the cave further!’ Now we
know… the octomander has eggs!
I feel a pang of guilt in my stomach. ‘I…I think we should go now. I don’t wish to intrude.’ Oscar lets go of me.
I try to exit the cave when a splat comes from behind us. Splat! Splat! Splat! I feel ink drip down my back.
‘Hey! Don’t throw water at me!’
I didn’t throw anything, I have sticky stuff on my back too!
We both turn round to find… the octomander. Spinning round, we click on our torches and scream. We make for
the other opening. There is another octomander, spraying even more ink than the other.
