Malamander-Chapter 4-Chloe SWW

Chapter 4

I’m ready to make a dash for it, but the safe way out is behind the byeolamander. Behind me, only sharp, dagger like grass glares at me with an intimidating authority. The pure white egg glows bright, and for the for the first time, I see a small shadow inside it. I close my eyes, preparing to die. Then I hear Violet’s voice, softer and calmer than I have ever heard her speak before. ”Don’t worry. We’re not here to hurt you.”

The byeolamander dims a little. It blinks at us questioningly, then lies down. I gulp. A path has now been made to the safest way out, but my feet are glued to the ground. ”We’re leaving now.” Violet says. She tugs at my jumper, but I still can’t move. I think of hot chocolate, imagining it pouring inside my body. It warms me up. ”Okay?” I say, and I find my feet moving.

As soon as we are outside, I breath a sigh of relief, and my shoulders relax. We walk across the beach; I am so tired my feet sink in the saturated sand. George talks nineteen-to-a-dozen, suggesting how we keep the byeolamander hidden. ”We could pretend there is quicksand, but what if a dog wonders there? Then the owner might climb in after the dog. Maybe we could build a cage around the hole and take it out when the byeolamander and its baby come out? Wait, no, that would just make people suspicious…” she rattles on, wringing her hands. I realise I am munching the jumbo pack of marshmallows I brought and suddenly have a brilliant idea. I stretch a couple of marshmallows, then lick it. They stick together. Then I drop it on the sand and watch as it comes back into shape. Will it work?

By the time we have entered the town, the sun has risen. Only a small slither is hidden in the horizon. Old Molly hums to herself, too busy organising bathing suits to notice us. The doors of Maria’s Café swings open, and Maria comes striding out with two, ice cold sundaes. ”Want some?” she asks, laughing at our faces. ”You pair look pale today, especially you, Miss Lottie Drops!” We ate the sundaes, thanked Maria, and kept walking towards the hotel. Ellie ran towards us, and shook our hands so hard she could have sent us flying. We smiled and kept going. Eventually we reach the hotel. I feel like rushing in and kissing every single wall. Will we manage our mission?

The rest of the day is spent looking at books, on hiding places and marshmallows. My plan had been to melt the marshmallows, stick them together, place it over the hole and cover it in sand. When the marshmallow hardens, the the hole will be covered until the byeolamanders eat their way out. However, this proved to be a little unrealistic, so we decided to search for other ways of hiding animals. Then as we walk out for fresh air, we see a bright, eye-catching poster outside the hotel. It says: New discovery! Sea glass found to be part of the byeolamander egg! Can give you great power and wealth. I look at George, she looks at me. Then George tells me a completely unnecessary thing. ”Should I tell you my name is Georgina? Just in case we die trying to look after the byeolamander and its egg?”

As I sink down to the floor, I have a feeling that it’s going to be a long time before I will experience peace again.

Flamemander Chapter 4

Chapter 4
I get ready to run even though my brain knew I was not going anywhere, I gaze at the egg pondering what to do. I notice that the egg looks like a flame in a warm fire place with tiny freckles of gold hidden in the ridged cracks of the it. I start to worry hoping Wilbur has a way out of here. It’s then Wilbur starts talking trying to use his calmest voice which sounds hard as he is a very energetic person, “It’s okay we are here to be friends.” he says, slowly backing towards me. I can hear in his quivering voice that Wilbur is scared but trying to hide it.

The flamemander pauses and tilts its head, its scales turning blue, Its aqua eyes fixed on us, “We are not here to hurt you.” whispers Wilbur. The flamemander blinks then bows down. We slip past it and manage to stroke it as we go past, we wave goodbye and sneak into the shadows.

Outside, the mist clears and the sun starts to rise. We stroll across the beach Wilbur running ahead, my head racing to try and keep up with all the ideas that he was shouting at me. I felt the warm sands soaking into my feet and the waves slipping in-between my toes. Today might end up being a lovely day! Even if I did not agree with Wilbur’s ideas we both agree that we need to keep the flamemander safe. How will we stop people finding the nest? What will we do if someone finds the nest? Will there be a fight for the egg?

By the time we are off the beach and in town, it is 10 O’clock, the sun high in the sky. Billy unlocks the door to Billie’s bits and bobs, turning around the sign that once said Closed to Welcome in. He sets out all of his items for stock and puts his ice cream stall outside. He shouts, “up early aren’t you?” we just wave back. Mrs Cook pulls down the shutters of Chips-on-Sea. She sets out some deck chairs and table outside, preparing for a busy day. We watch as the shop fronts fill up with colourful deck chair; open signs; and spruce wood tables.

I open the door to my little basement and jump onto my arm chair feeling absolutely shattered, unlike Wilbur who was stood up muttering more ideas. We turn on the heaters and I sit down to relax well Wilbur raids the shelf of lost items.

For the rest of the day we sit in silence, until Wilbur who just finished the lost book he found, blurted out, “Read this page!” I pick it up and read. In 1978 the captain of the legendary Braveheart found a fiery red rock spotted with gold, they took it on board. The next night the rock was broken in half and empty. They found a monster hidden on the ship submerged in fire, by the time morning broke the ship had brunt down. Sailors now have a promise to capture any creature of this kind. I look at Wilbur worried.

This is only the start of the biggest story ever!cHA

The dragomander CH4 by Eloise SWW

Chapter 4

Creeping silently, an eerie shadow flies around the walls of the dragomander’s cave-like home. Suddenly, behind us, the dragomander stops, exactly in front of the exit of the cave! Opal lets out a gasp, but I could see she is unable move; she is terrified. I had thought that she was the brave one of us, but I see she has let her guard down. A screech nearly deafens me, and the dragomander starts to bounce off the walls and circles its egg.

Opal suddenly brings her courage back and raises her arms in to show we mean no harm. Then she speaks:
” My name is Opal, this is Lizzy, and we mean no harm to you or your precious egg. We promise. We would just like to leave. We understand that it was a mistake to come in here, but we really didn’t realise that this was your place. We hope you forgive us.” Slowly, the dragomander moves out of the way for us to escape.

Outside, the moon shines like a spotlight, and the mist clears as a walkway for us to stride home. As we walk, Opal and I talk. ” How on earth are we going to keep the egg safe? If anyone else ventures into the cave, there is a high chance of them being extremely badly hurt, or…” I pause. “Maybe even die.” I whisper.
Opal nods but stays quiet. ” How about a sign? Or a report of… a rockfall! Or a flood from the tide!” she finally says. ” Yes, but won’t people like the police, or maybe people in ambulances to make sure that everything is ok? They could come and check it out for themselves. But maybe a sign is good idea. It could say: ” Danger! Cave with falling rocks. Do not enter! ” I say.

We then go back to the town, and to our surprise, tourists and shops are busy! Chips on the House is buzzing with the owner, Zephlin Sparks, and all of the tourists! Emmie’s Calm Café is certainly anything but calm this morning. And Joes Arcade is already filled with kids! Than I remember. It was the spring! That means visitors, children, and more! I rush to the shop, with Opal, and open up quickly. The room is warm, really warm. I must have left the heater on last night. I get behind the cashier and wait for the customers. Opal begins to stock the shelves. My mind begins to race. The egg! What will happen to the egg? Suddenly, Opal breaks the tension. ” Thanks for letting me help with your business! Who would of thought! Two 12 year old girls working together especially after last night! What will happen to the egg? Lizzy… what do you think will happen!” she says.

Opal wanted to go out to the Calm Cafe while I was having lunch. ” I’m just going out to Emmie’s, I will back soon!” I was all alone in the shop with just a few customers. I nimbly picked up my fork and ate my pasta. I enjoyed watching the children pick out souvenirs, soft toys, and beach supplies. As a little girl payed for a keyring, Opal rushed in, with an old magazine in her hand! I said bye to the girl and looked at the magazine. On the front was the beach. My heart skipped a beat. A beach with shards of black and pink, purple and yellow specks. It was the… But the cover said it was sea glass. A rare type of sea glass.
” Opal it’s not what we think it is. Read.” I say.

That night, we talked over tea. Our adventure was not coming to an end. It was just beginning!

Chapter 4 by Ellie SWW

The Sealamander Henry SWW

Chapter 4 The Sealamander Despite my shaking legs, I turn and face the terrifying creature. Hannah(who is talking to the creature like it’s a dog) draws in her outstretched arms trying to walk away. I’m ready to run; I try to run- but my stupid feet are frozen still to the damp ground. A single ray of blinding sunlight smiles down onto the egg’s shells, sending a lightbulb to ping on. Like a fading memory, the sunlight is soon gone, rejecting the outside world, going back to sleep behind the dark clouds. Soon remembering why we were here, I look at the egg. I can’t take it, I just can’t. Steadily, I turn round, my face meeting the animal. Suddenly, it lies down and yawns. We seize the chance to get away- we’re free.

Our progress back to warmth is dreadfully slow: the sand is so saturated that our freezing feet sink into it. We trudge on through the consuming sand as the mist bites at my ankles. The wind whacks me in the face- leaving my hair standing up.” I hope no one finds the sealamander and its eggs.” Hannah says How can we keep the creature and the eggs safe? I hope they don’t feel disturbed! The rain has cleared now and the shimmering stars have studded the night sky. The moon watches the museum as I climb up the steps onto the pier. Suddenly, Hannah bombards me with ideas.

We stroll through the awakening street, begging for a wink of sleep. Barber Bill is setting out deck chairs- he waves to us and calls out” Up very early today you two, oh and by the way Marcus, you better book a appointment with me, your hair is like a mop.” Hannah sniggers. We carry on walking, all the shops are coming to life; the town too. Cars weave through the town, as seagulls’ fly down- obviously smelling the fish and chips. Their stick-like legs poking out underneath the cars bulky tires.

Finally, we reach the museum. I fumble in my pocket for the keys and then open up. Hannah sits down as I reach for the hot chocolate powder. “I will have a ginger tea please,” Hannah exclaims. I reach for the kettle as well then.

All day, Hannah’s nose has been stuck in tons of books. Ancient logs and records of old myths out at sea. Such as old boat crashes and anything else that had a link with the sealamander. Later that day, me and Hannah are looking over the old antiques when we come across and dark blue shell, freckled with lightning strike patterns. We look at each other; our gaze locks upon the egg shell again. this was an old piece of the sealamander egg.

That evening, we just sit and talk till it’s bed time. Our adventure is definitely not over! It had only just began.

Chapter 4 crocamander by Ewan SWW

Chapter 4
Despite my brains fright, my feet will not move. So I say there looking in terror at the monster in front of me. There are sun rays bouncing of the eggs’ shells, remembering why I’m here. I must defend these magnificent eggs’. they let of a luminescent effect and glow green in the night .I slowly step back from the teeth framed jaw. Winnie says in a soothing voice, ” don’t get scared” I can see that she is trying to stay calm but her voice is getting ripped by fright then she puts her hands up the crocamander understood what she was saying.
Then the crocamander closed it’s jaw and was opening it’s button eyes. I thought I was moving but I was so scared that I could not move then Winnie was dragging me out.

Outside the sun was covering the saturated sand. Inside I here the crocamander wrap around the eggs’ to keep them warm and safe.
The mist has been swept away the star studded sky was bright, the crystal waves gingerly cruising my boot. The progression was slow getting back to the café because the saturated sand was swallowing our shoes. We were thinking on how to keep this discovery hidden Winnie said” we could say the walls are decaying and it would be danger’s because it could cave in.

The sky was brightening up; the town too, comes alive again with people setting stalls up. Isaac’s Ice Cream Parlor is opening up. He is serving up fresh gelato ice cream to all of his costumers. Sam’s Super Splash water park was reopening from all of the greave of the weather. Sam says “You are up early are you excited” We nod at each other. knowingly.

Finally, we make it to the café I put the key in and twisting the ornate lock open. It was empty and silent but soon it was going to be manic. Then Winnie says,” We need to do something about this have some knowledge about the myth you know so we can protect it”. I nod in acceptances of the idea.

Winnie walks over to the back of the counter and she sees a luminescent glow just like the one on the egg. Then she runs over to little library in the corner and pulls out a fishermen’s log from 1872. It said a vessel went out and caught a slime covered egg which glowed. When they woke up the said to be stone was cracked open and a monster crawled around the boat. It was only when they got of they found the monster. It said the egg gave you the abilities to bring back a lost memory. Every fisherman and sworn to kill every mander they see.

That evening, we talk then we realize it is only the end of the beginning.

Koalamander ch3 Lily SWW

Chapter 3

A few days later, we are sat in the cosiness of my cubby hole. Slowly, we slurp our hot chocolate down (my absolute favourite) and stay in silence. Outside, the wild waves are climbing over the rocks. Inside, I am wrapped up in my huge black blanket. Charlotte sits up and looks me directly in the eye. “Right then,” she begins, “I have been building a plan in this silence, want to hear it?” I huff and get ready for the plan that she has got in her crazy head.

Apparently, Charlotte has been investigating (on her own in this weird town) without me. Even though I never really wanted to witness the koalamander, I don’t like to be the one to blame if someone dies.

Locking the fish and chip shop, I run to keep up with Charlotte’s pounding feet. She is wasting no time finding evidence and the koalamander. I manage to catch her up and get my breath back. The wind brushes through my hair and we do our coats up tighter than usual. The sun is just visible behind the hills; Charlotte is pointing at something. I follow her arm and notice a shadow looming near the hill. “Is that…?” I whisper. We both hold our breath in awe.

I had no clue of what Charlotte was saying: she was talking to herself, like people do. On the sand, there are trails of strawberry juice which looked like blood. The shadow is hidden now but we are pretty sure it’s that ugly legend. I am holding onto Charlotte’s arm now: she is brave but I know inside her head that she is frightened.

We stroll over to a mysterious cave and switch our torches on. The wind is slowing. Boulders are smashed on the floor and puddles of water cover the silvery floor. Charlotte is creeping towards the darker corner of the crumbly cave. Just as I am about to suggest to go back, Charlotte beckons me over. “Look! It’s a nest!” I stare at the stone nest. Directly in the middle of it is a shimmering glass like egg.

Charlotte steps away. I follow her move. The ground shakes and the puddles wobble. I grab my leg: something scratches me. I am oblivious to it after a few seconds because I’m trying to find out where the Koalamander is. Charlotte is smiling and frowning at the same time so I think that she is enjoying the show. We are both aware of the danger: the koalamander. Charlotte is creeping towards the nest trying to grab the egg.

The Malamander-Chapter three- Chloe SWW

As the clock chimes midnight, George and I are sipping hot chocolate with extra frothy cream and tiny pink and white marshmallows. Outside, the rain tiptoes on windows and fills the bucket stationed outside my bedroom. Inside, the cosy heat makes me shiver with pleasure. As I lick the cream with the tip of my tongue, I think about those beautiful amber eyes. Meanwhile, George has already finished four mugs and is lying on her bed of mop heads and a blanket.
”Lottie?” she says, slowing down my name to making it last five or six seconds. ”I’ve been thinking….”
”Of course you have.” I reply, trying not to sigh.
”I have a plan!” she says, and, my heart sinks.

It turns out the George has been ‘discovering’ without me; apparently when I was feeding the pets, going out to the shops to buy a new mop head, and a proper duvet for her. She claims to have seen evidence, something I absolutely have to see!

Half an hour later, after a lot of persuading, I switch the light off, and silently lock the door. I have made sure that I have brought torches, and a small packet of jumbo marshmallows to keep us going. Then I run, and run, and run. I can hardly hold the torch that is helping us see, and George has completely given up, torch in her coat pocket. I don’t think a cheetah could have beaten George in a race. We tear along the promenade, down the stairs and past the cave were we last saw the byeolamander. I stop then.
”We shouldn’t be here G-”
George tugs at my sleeve and I have to keep running. Then, she points at a hole, hardly visible. Cautiously, I approach it. I gasp. I switch my torch off. I don’t need it anymore.

I am so flabbergasted, I find it hard to say anything. Streams of light are hanging limply from the sharp brambles inside, and glowing red blood is pulsing, each pulse making it dimmer, and dimmer. A number of thoughts are whirling round in my head making me reel.
”Let’s go in!” George says brightly. I immediately think of reasons not to go in:
The byeolamander could be lurking there and I’m too young to be blinded;
It’s half past one, practically midnight;
I need to get some sleep or I’ll get fired for dozing off;
and…. I have some common sense.
”No thanks.” I say, but George has already pulled me in.

The hole quickly turns into a cave. However, this is the only cave I have ever been in without needing a torch. The whole of the cave is covered in strips of light, and boulders are smothered by glow worms. My heart keeps skipping a beat as soon as I see the crimson, fading blood the appears every now and then, like a trail. Even George seems scared. Then, just as I’m relaxing, I spot a huge, golden nest. George tiptoes in, stealthy and cat-like. I’m so scared, I blunder in. We stop at the same moment, and stare in awe at a huge, pale, luminous egg that sits grandly before us. I look at George. George looks at me.
”Lottie…”
She doesn’t have to say anything else. The byeolamander has an egg.

In that moment I feel a stab of guilt, fear and panic. We should never have come here in the middle of the night and put ourselves in danger.
”Come on.” I whisper, still in awe of the egg but desperate to get out. I grab her arm, ready to tug her out even if she screamed her head of. But my plan was interrupted by a looming figure in the shadows, glowing so brightly I couldn’t see its ****** features. It made a noise I can’t describe, except it didn’t sound happy. It sounded familiar. Too familiar. I stumble back, cutting my hand on a sharp rock. I can feel blood seep down my palm, but I’m not thinking about that.
”The byeolamander!” I yell.
I cower, and whimper; George stands up, bold and confident.
