Chapter 4 by Ellie SWW
The secret passage is damp and moldy, and worst of all, dark. As we crawl out the exit of the tunnel we find ourselves outside of the Grand-Dragon-Hotel. We hear a growl behind us, we turn around, as I see Frankie being paralyzed by his fear, clear on his face. I Step in at that point and… Talk to it. “We don’t mean you any harm, see, we will give you back your kitten and figure out how to protect it, and you.” The catamander’s fur lowers and it lowers its back for the baby catamander to climb on. “Oh and by the way before you go, is it okay for us to keep on going through the passage way?” It nods in reply, as I shake Frankie to wake him up from his fear, as I wake his I ask if he heard that? He nods slowly, eventually we come to a decision that Frankie will go into my attic and I will explore the secret passage more carefully than before. As I explore the passage more, I decide to start mapping it out, when I am finished I gaze upon hours of hard work, this is how we will protect the catamander (you’ll see). Outside, me, Emma, is walking back to my attic in the drenching rain, while Frankie is probably drinking hot cocoa while I’m out here in the cold. As I clamber into my attic, my idea escape’s, Frankie, what if we help the catamander and it’s baby learn the way around the secret tunnels so it can escape danger? But “How?” says Frankie, his frown turns into a grin as I hold up my map of the tunnels. Outside the rain has stopped, and me and Frankie head out for a walk, in our surprise we find the night has passed and it is actually hot outside as the sun is beaming down upon us! We run back and change into more heat-aware clothing, then continue Jonathan from the trinkets shop down town gives us a wave and we wave back. As we spy the town spy girl Maybelline she looks at us I glance away, then back and she is gone. As we walk through town the sun just seems to be getting hotter! Jonathan says “Well well well, I didn’t expect you to bein town this early!” We scurry away as the Sisters’ shop opens “Hello!” They holler across town center, all of a sudden Frankie bursts into a run, running away from the town, and civilization more towards the tunnel, “Wait, Frankie what’s wrong?” I yell. I sigh and set off after him, wondering what caused him to bolt off like that, then I see Maybelline talking to a mander hunter and I realize. Maybelline found the mander, as me and Frankie rush along the secret passage we hear a clunking and crashing sound, as we get inside the catamander’s cavern, it is there safe and sound, with its But not for long, not as long we haven’t put our plan into motion. Especially since we heard that clunking sound As me and Frankie walk along he tells me “My second name is Glaze not Lime.” Additional to my shock we see what we wish we hadn’t, the news title of the daily yowl is : mander egg famed to have to power to raise the passed, and spotted in cave, in the restricted zone, and It is then that me and Frankie realize our adventure hasn’t finished it really, has only just started.
