Chapter 2

Chapter 2 –

Lalo stared closely at Maggie, her deep yellow eyes blazing like amber. Her orange fur and black stripes , as orange as autumn leaves. Maggie noticed her star-shaped claws as sharp as a tooth, whiskers ruffled messily outside her face. Her eyes twitched, sensing everything.

To her surprise , she opened her mouth widely, revealing curved pointed teeth as pointed as a pencil. She sniffed her face, then licked her hand with a sandpaper- like. Maggie froze to ice.

“ She likes you”, said Miss Daffodil, as the massive cat went into the bushes. On their way back to the village, the breeze was appealing in Hollow’s Acre as the sunlight glowed on a moonlight path Maggie stopped near a tree. Was someone spying on them? For a minute or two, she took a glance between the trees and bushes.

“ She’ll be watching,”nodded Miss Daffodil.“ I found her as a cub trying to survive the heatwave. Someone must have let her escape during the battle of tigers and lions . I took her home and looked after her. She’s a grown up tiger that is so strong! But no one must ever know- if they saw her, they’d battle her”.

That night, Maggie had a wonderful dream about Lalo, her yellow eyes lit up the dark, night sky. When she licked her hand and sniffed her face. She felt happy with her.

During the night, she visited her, bringing her leftovers of food. Maggie taught her how to set turtle traps, and sometimes she caught one , which Lalo would snatch to play with before going back into the bushes. She hunted deer, mice, bunnies and squirrels.

One evening, she let Maggie stroke her head. Soon, she was searching her pockets for food, smiling beautifully. And Maggie changed. She was no longer scoffing. Miss Daffodil heard her humming and whistling a tune while doing chores.

Through the summer day, she watched as the gigantic cat was licking her face as Maggie gave her a stroke under her chin. While having fun, birds were warbling, a colourful rainbow with so many colours and bees buzzing around.

My sadness

My sadness is made from-

the crying sound of a baby,

the sky with no colour,

birds falling to the ground

and no one comes to my 10th birthday

I found it-

 Trapped in me,

Wrap it inside a bitten apple,

Crumpled it in paper at the side of the road,

Where it was eaten by a toad

This sadness can –

   Make people cry,

It can be kept,

in an empty palm,

Crush the world,

And break apart Mount Vesuvius,

Till it is dust,

And kept in a jar safely

If I lost this sadness-

I would cry to tears,

Everyone would feel disappointed

Chapter 3

Zyva sat silently in the dungeon, looking at the dirty floor while Sally searched desperately for a way to get out. She checked the window but it was too small, she started to shout for help and it didn’t work. She realized her comb was in her pocket. She tried to open the window with her comb, but it didn’t open. Angry, she stomped her foot at Zyva for not helping her. “ Instead of sitting there looking at the ground, you would have helped to find a way out!” But Zyva gulped, saying the escape was impossible. Sally folded her arms and tapped her foot in anger. They could not find a way out, and what was worse,

Zyva had given up on finding a way out of the dungeons.

As the sun went down, the dungeon was full of shadows and it was very cold. Inside, strange noises came into the dungeon and it became dark and spooky. Outside, the wind howled, it was windy and stars glowed in the night sky which lit up the rose gardens of Breckenhill Bridge. They both heard a quiet bark in the  bush rustling glowing green eyes appeared in the bushes. It was Tiger, their mechanimal dog. They both winded him up and he dropped a small key into Sally’s hand.

Using the key, Sally and Zyva both unlocked the door. We started to escape the dungeons and came to the rose gardens, following Tiger across the lawn to the safety of a garden
Zyva lit up a fire when Sally explained the adventures they went on. They were safe, but questions remained: Where was this precious watch, and what had happened to Michael and his airship?

Its green vines are spikey

Like a stinging nettle

Their silver roots

Like a shiny, metal coin

The witch poem

The witch hides in a secret room, ready to squish, squash and squelch.

The witch’s rotted skin is like a slithering snake moving across the witch’s neck.

The witch’s grotesque tongue stuck out like a frightening frog, trying to catch children like flies.

Her crumpled claws are as pointy as a knife and fork.

The witch’s unnatural feet are getting ready to get cheeky children and eat them like dirty food.

Her nails are sharp as spiky spikes that can easily hurt you like thorns.

Her plans sneaking around in her mind

squash,

squish,

step on,

and squelch.
