Weather Dragons by Maya
There are many different species of dragons and one of my favourites is the Weather Dragon. Their scales are like a chameleon!
If you spotted one would you know what it was? Well, they are different to other dragons as their scale colours vary depending on the weather and the type of day or the time of day. For instance, when the weather is hot and sunny, their bodies adapt to the sun and it makes them feel cool so they don’t over heat. Their bodies turn blue and their teeth transform into icicles so the coldness can drip into the backs of their throats. Their scales feel soft and smooth like soft skin. However, when there are sheets of rain, thunder and lightning, a lightning bolt appears on their backs. It cracks and crumbles open and heat (like fire) spurts out and sounds as soothing as a waterfall in an Enchanted forest. The main features are their wings, which are tables compared to their minute feet and razor-sharp claws. Amazingly, they leave a trail of icy water as the plod along.
No one actually knows where these mystical creatures live in summer months, but it is believed that in the winter they reside in Enchanted woods near glistening sapphire pools and sparkly emerald grasslands. If you want to see one you need to go to one of these forests and silently creep towards one of these places.
In conclusion, if you ever see one carry a bundle of meat because they are more likely to be friendly if they and munching something delicious. They are not dangerous but ONLY if you stay calm and be peaceful. Beware, if you stroke their scales they can breath a pool of fire…
