How are you feeling?

How are you feeling?

Are you feeling……

Joy…like the feeling of placing your tongue on a scoop of melty ice cream….

…or like the feeling of knowing that someone loves you.

Are you feeling……

Sadness….like when it’s raining and you want to go and play with your friends….

…or like the feeling when someone forgets about you…feeling invisible, forgotten, alone

Or are you feeling….

Anger…..when you’ve worked hard for something but never getting praise……

…or when you get into an pointless argument with your best friend

Are you feeling….

Fear……when you’re in the dark…alone…

…or when there’s a virus that’s threatening to illiminate human life

Are you feeling…

Disgust…….when you smell your least favourite food creeping up behind you……

……or when you see a kissing scene for the first time

Or are you feeling…

Hunger…like you haven’t eaten for days…..

…or when you’ve had nothing but water, and your stomach is as empty as a black hole

Or are you feeling

Hopeless….like the sky is falling on your head…

…or when you’ve lost the battle in your heart

Or are you just feeling

Nothing…empty inside.

  1. Hi Zuzia, I’m super impressed with your poem. I like the way you have taken Pie’s idea and added your own pattern to it. My favourite feeling is “Disgust”, it made me chuckle. A great first submission to TeachingLive and we hope you contribute lots more.

Lovely poem, Zuzia, I really enjoyed reading it. Well done.

  3. Zuzia this is amazing! The figurative language you’ve chosen is breathtaking. Lots of the other teachers at Cockington have read it and are so impressed!

    Incredible! Such powerful choices.

  7. Your choice of language for each of these feelings is so powerful, Zuzia! My favourite is the idea of the smell of the hated food creeping up behind you – this is exactly what it feels like to me when someone nearby is eating a banana!
