I’ve Never by Rion

I`ve never eaten a chilli,

but I have felt the heat of a hot bubble bath,

I’ve never been in a rocket,

but I have ridden my bike down a steep hill fast like a bright light.

I’ve never driven a racing car,

but I have dodged the hills and clouds with my kite.

I’ve never had tea with the queen,

but I have eaten cream with pancakes and strawberries in a cool breeze.

I’ve never eaten butterflies,

but when I’m excited I can feel them having a party in my tummy.

  1. Hi Rion, we understand from your teacher, Mr Giordmaina that you had to miss quite a lot of school last year, so well done for posting your first poem on TeachingLive. We love your peom and my favourite couplet is the last one, “I’ve never eaten butterflies/but when I’m excited I can feel them having a party in my tummy.” It’s a clever idea! Keep on writing and we will look forward to reading more of your work in weeks to come.

Hi Poet Rion! I loved your poem especially the lines ‘I’ve never been in a rocket,

but I have ridden my bike down a steep hill fast like a bright light’ that feeling like a bright light when whizzing down a hill is one I know well. Keep writing, you are talented and the way you put your thoughts together is interesting. Please keep posting your poems and writing I will be looking out for them

I really enjoyed your poem Rion, the imagery you use is so vivid, I can feel it. I especially liked the idea of riding down a steep hill like a bright light -very powerful. Have you other poems you can share? I hope you write some more soon.
