The ode of the Draconian Demon

Boom Boom Boom
screeching roar of thunder

Violent vortices rising, towering taller, looming closer.
Seismic silhouette turning hearts to stone.
Majestic beast swirls in the midday sunset.

Sparks spewing, villages a glow.
Incandescent droplets dripping
hot as lava, burning to ash.

Swooping down, its wings beat like drums with diamond edged
daggers shredding trees to stumps.

Disturbing silence, smoky eclipse.

The living call him Diablo Fuego….

  1. I love this poem, Nathan. The alliteration in the second verse works really well, and I love the image, “Seismic silhouette turning hearts to stone”. Just one question: can you really have a midday sunset?

  2. It’s the effect of the dragon’s flames that make it appear to be an early sunset.
