Class 3 Poem: I have never…

I have never helped to build Titanic in Belfast,

But I have built a den in my back garden.

I have never tamed a lion in the cracked crusted sand of the Savannah,

But I have called to a Barn Owl in an echoing field.

I have never ridden an ancient camel through the dusty Sahara Desert,

But I have ridden a majestic horse through the fields at speed.

I have never swung on the twisting vines in the Amazon rainforest,

But I have climbed a curved and broken tree to get to my den.

I have never glided across the blue ocean with an Eagle,

But I have got on a boat.

I have never played ice-hockey,

But I have played football and boxing.

I have never journeyed out to space,

But I have raced through Thrussington to the village shop.

I have never swum with ocean creatures,

But I have walked with Monty my dog.

I have never laid in the soft fluffy clouds,

But I have laid in my warm cosy bed.

I have never raced Usian Bolt,

But I have chased Dougal (my black Labrador) through bright green fields near where I live.

I have never dived down to a broken ship that is resting at the bottom of the Pacific,

But I have been staggered by scuba diving in a pool in Spain.

I have never touched the slimy sea green scales of a mermaid’s fin,

But I have touched the slimy seaweed at Skegness beach.

I have never saved one of Messi’s shots,

But I have saved one of my friend Andrew’s shots.

I have never walked alongside a dinosaur in the dense forest,

But I have been exploring with Bobby my hyperactive dog.

I have never raced in the Grand National,

But I have galloped through my granny’s field on my pony Tommy.

I have never played against Rafael Nadal,

But I have played against my friend.

I have never played football with the fantastic Jamie Vardy,

But I have played football with my amazing dad.

Most children in the class have contributed a couplet.
