The legend of Hopkin, Peskin and little Mo

CHAPTER 1: unwanted and unexpected

Once upon a Bramblemas, in Shallowood Warren, the rabbit people were preparing for Bramblemas, that is their most prized and important celebration. Hopkin, Peskin and little Mo where putting the finishing touches on their burrow, when unexpectedly, a group of Vikings started brutally looting houses in their village. In shock, the trio grabbed as much as they could hold and made a run for it. As the Vikings were still plundering and pillaging, Peskin grabbed a grey, muddy bag, put all they picked up and kept running faster than they’ve ever had. “Where to next”, asked Peskin. “anywhere but backwards”, Hopkin replied. So the trio kept on running, and running, and running until, all went dark for a minute. Then, silence. Finally, Hopkin broke the awkward quietness, “we should make camp for the night”. “agreed” Peskin said in response.

And so, the fluffle of rabbits grabbed twigs to give them the base for the shelter, mud to seal the creases and leaves so it’s camouflaged. “here we go, a shelter for the night”, Hopkin exclaimed. “now, who’s hungry!” so the three bunnies entered their shelter and feasted on delicious dried apples, homemade oat cakes and baby carrots with a side of sweet cabbage juice that little Mo grabbed back at the warren.

Now with full bellies, the group of three pulled branches over the entrances and slowly drifted to sleep, wondering if they would be found by nearby Vikings or become safe in the walls of rabbit’s last stand.
