Podkin on Katrina Island Chapters 1 and 2
Chapter 1 “A Bad Beginning”
Podkin woke up one morning in a good mood. As a matter of fact he did all his chores and even replanted the carrots. This was a good day. But Podkin noticed a few strange things happening around him. He saw that there was a bright light coming from Fairy Town. He thought it might of been a small fire and carried on with his day. His mind kept going back to it and he was thinking of what else it could be or if it really was a fire, who had set it. Another weird thing that was happening was that there were usually more birds in the sky but that wasn’t the strangest bit. He heard the birds chirping. He thought nothing of it and soon carried on. The next day, Podkin had woken up to the worst noise anyone could wake up to. Growls. Grizzly growls louder than thunder. He kept his eyes closed and kept saying to himself in his mind, “It’s only a bear, you are a rabbit. A strong rabbit and you’re not scared of some stupid bear!” He said this to himself many of times until he came to the conclusion that it really was a bear and opened his eyes. Nothing. Nothing was there at all.
“Maybe it was a dream,” he said. But he had a feeling that it wasn’t so he started to pack his bags and go somewhere else. He didn’t know where yet just that it was somewhere other than Bunny Burrows.
Chapter 2 “Away From Home”
Podkin said his goodbyes the next morning and set off. He didn’t really know Island Katrina all that well he just knew the places. There was:
•Polar bear palace
•Gorm land
•Gorm Mountain
•Hedge peak
•Hogland
•Fairy Town
•Badger Meadows
And of course Bunny Burrows. He was sure there were more but he couldn’t quite put his paw on it. He set off through the wood and out on the other side were…mountains. Tall, rocky mountains. He looked to see if he could go around but the mountains seemed endless. What should he do now? Well there was only one thing he could do. Climb. So up he went.
“Well,” Podkin began, “there’s no going back now.”
He climbed…and climbed…and climbed. He pretty much just climbed until eventually he reached the top. There was a pretty flat part of the mountain so he rested on that for awhile. Good thing he remembered a sleeping bag. He had a bad back from the rocks all night but other than that he was alright…or so he thought.
