Chapter 3

Chapter 3

All day and night AJ couldn’t stop complaining about their current situation. However, Echo rampaged thought the room like a mum late on a Monday morning. They wouldn’t stop searching for an exit.

They spent around 30 minutes at the walls looking for a passage way, another 25 at the cracked windows glancing for an opening, just a quick 45 minutes at the door and another 2 hours rumbling through the stuff in their room. She tried everything. Shouting and balling, breaking down the door, but nothing ever worked. Were they really going to be trapped in this room forever? Was there a real way out?

Every once and a while Echo snapped her head around towards AJ, who just lay on the bed like a sloth, “how is it possible for you to be this utterly useless!” Echo said gritting her teeth, venom lacing each word. However, AJ just stared at his mate and started laughing, he shook his head and went back to peering around the room. So, Echo sauntered back up towards the door once again and once again tapped the life out of it, pushing all the hairclips they have to attempt to get out of that place.

In indignation Echo spun round, hands on hips and fired all of the pent up anger at AJ once again.

“It is not possible to do this on my own, won’t you just get up and help instead of looking like a spare idiot!” They propelled with tears threatening to spill, however, AJ just stared blankly

“what’s the actual point we are never getting out of here. Never I say, never.” AJ grumbled, exhaling as he spoke.

“Well I don’t see you even trying to do anything but lay in my bed!” Echo argued, emphasizing the my when she spoke. Her eyes had a unforgettable blazing ember in their forest green eyes.

The kids sat in complete silence. tension filling the air, AJ had his arms crossed and Echo’s foot tapping at 50mph impatiently and boiling with anger. A way out seemed a dream. What was worse, was that both kids had seemed to have given up. At the moment, from inside the room, the moon light up the entire room as it sat full and proud, stars glistening and freckling the midnight sky. The reflection from this beautiful view cast upon the lavish lake in Heelshire manor.

Just as the two of them were about to fall into a deep slumber, a quack and tap could be heard from the window ledge. Both of them thrashed their way to the window to see what the commotion was. A well-known face was peering up to the both, eyes glazing. “Please, wind me up” spoke a defeated voice, Echo almost immediately stretched her hand out to Anistasia, they twisted the key that was attached to the middle of the ducklings wings.

As if in the speed of light the duck was back to her usual upbeat personality, her tone changed drastically from the low raspy tone she had before. She opened her beak and a small golden key, with fluttering wings fell into the palm of Echo. “Let’s get the two of you out of this horrid place!” Anistasia yelled determined to help the two kids on a mission.

Softly, Echo twisted the key in the lock, for a moment it seemed to feel like it wouldn’t open, and with a click the door begins to creak open. The two children glanced outside, searching for danger. It was clear. Her room was on the first floor on the far left of the building. They slowly creeped out of the house, and within a second their feet were thudding against the grass, bounding for the small hut on the edge of the property, Anistasia leading.

Half an hour later, they took shelter in the small cosy shed on the edge of the property. Echo had to fill Anistasia in on all that has happened to the both of them, she sat like an angel head tilting at every twist. Then Echo and AJ were informed of how the duckling managed to escape when Cora had fled. By that time, AJ had collected enough supplies to keep them warm and feed for the night, after a while they had a set up for a fire. All the needed was an ember. Anistasia strutted up to the wood and used her beam lenses and started a jolly blazing inferno that kept them warm through and through. Was the escape really this easy? Where is Jerimiah? Is he still alive? Nobody knows.
