Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Violet and Joe were hungry all night. Joe sat unhelpfully twiddling his thumbs, while Violet searched around the whole place trying her hardest to seek escape.

The orphanage didn’t have nice bathrooms. Violet spent a lot of time at the window trying to open it further, however the crusty windows at the orphanage only open up to 3cm as the night is when children usually try to escape and there has been a lot of escapes so the local authorities demanded the windows only open slightly. She gave up at the windows though, she knew there was no way they were going to open more.

Violet wasn’t going to give up but Joe was making it the worst case scenario, he sat there having no hope and that wasn’t doing any help to this situation and affecting Violets confidence and hope to escape. Violet had enough.
“Joe! Man up, get up and start helping me this instant or we are never going to be able to escape!”
Violet intensely squealed, however, still Joe sat with no hope in his mind muttering,
“Give up violet, there is absolutely no way we can escape.”
Violet was really disappointed in Joe, she thought he would have hope and be up for helping but no. Violet searched in all the bathroom cabinets trying to find a hairclip to open the door. After not finding one Violet slammed the cabinet door then stated to Joe,
“I thought you were better than this, are you really going to sit there in your own negative thoughts giving up? Really? Pathetic.” Violet tried everything, she tried to pick a lock, she tried to smash the window, she tried to find some kind of secret vent, she tried to seek attention so someone could help and last of all she tried to make Joe help and have hope, but none worked. She needed sleep.

After staring at the wall for a while Violet finally fell asleep, so did Joe, however he was asleep ages ago. They were both starving. Violet woke up by something she heard outside, it was pitch black, she slowly walked over to the window and peered down. Her face filled with excitement.
“Andy! You came!” Whispered Violet wanting to shout. She ran over to Joe and shook him, she took him over to the window and he put his hands over his mouth and started jumping up and down.
“Wind me up please,” Muttered Andy, “I need to be able to jump far enough to hand you this bat.”
Violet stretched her arm out the window and turned the key, Andy then leaped up and grabbed onto the window ledge and with the other hand handing them a bat.
“Use this to bat that window down and get out of there! It’s quite a jump so ill hand you a ladder once you are done.” To show the appreciation Violet grinned while she batted down the window and the glass fell to the grassy ground. Within seconds Violet and Joe were free. Leading the way Andy ran across the muddy field while Violet and Joe followed.

Round about half an hour later they found shelter at an abandoned camp site. While of course Joe sat there traumatized Violet rambled on to Andy nodded his head while he waddled along giving them both glasses of water.
“Ah, you see I managed to slip out the window when he captured both of you.”
Outside the tent they were in there was an old fire pit that they managed to get going and they huddled around it. The first step was done but where was that camera? Where was Violets mum?
