Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Some time later, the children were locked into a cold basement at the back of the garden and behind some bushes. There was only a tiny window to the outside world. You couldn’t see much, only the concrete ground and a fence nearby. “No use !” shouted Joe. The window was too small to wriggle through. The old wooden door was strongly closed and there was no point kicking it out; it would only hurt. “ the snake,” whispered Rosie excitedly . “He’s double-crossed my papa”.
“We will never get out of here!” said Joe so quietly so that no one could hear him.
“There is no point !” shouted Joe.
“YES WE WILL!!” yelled Rosie with determination.
All afternoon, Rosie was still trying to get out. She tried to wriggle through the small window but she failed. The window had no glass so Rosie was screaming for help but the basement was just too hidden, too far away for anyone to hear her.
No matter what she kept trying to yell , scream anything she could think of but nothing worked.Joe sat on the cobblestone floor in depression. However, Rosie didn’t; she kept trying and trying; she never lost hope. Rosie tried pushing out the bricks, nevertheless nothing moved.
Just as the night covered the land and Rosie was drifting away to sleep she heard a distinct crunch of gravel. Her heart racing, two blue eyes shone on her as Rosie walked towards the window. A small but probably precious key was between the creature’s shoulder blades. Rosie knew it wasn’t a human; it had four legs and two floppy ears. “A dog?” This question was Rosie’s in mind. The creature passed the golden key to Rosie. She opened the door and shouted “ we are free”. Joe woke up with excitement on his face.
“Now let’s get out of here!!” yelled Rosie.
