School Disaster

Louis Smith was in his bedroom sad about leaving home but he knew he had to. He sat on the edge of his new bed, and thought about how much he would miss his old life. He wondered if things would ever go back to normal. He lived in a new house where it had a basement and Mr Stevens’ son was there telling him all about  what it really feels like life as an evacuee. When Louis moved he had a different school just right near the house.

In school he had no friends and his teachers were all mean, especially Mr Robinson. He got really frustrated about little things such as someone who shouts out in a lesson. At lunchtime, he had to eat the same thing every day like bread with crisps and raisins for dessert. He really thought school was a pain and when he’d write his handwriting looked like a bug had appeared on the page. Louis wanted to bash his head to the table and let his anger flow.

Months passed by and Louis was still depressed in school. He was so bored in school and even more bored at home.

Outside the sun slowly disappeared and darkness took over. Inside, the kettle squealed as Mr Stevens made his bedtime tea. One night, while Louis was sneaking into the closet to try and find a board game, he heard footsteps across the corridor. What was Mr Stevens doing awake at this time? He thought. Louis heard Mr Stevens close the door gently so he didn’t find out.

He followed him and peeked through the tiny hole that all the doors in this house seemed to have. He couldn’t see much so he leant forward and before he knew it, went toppling into the living room. Mr Stevens stood, in shock, and then turned red. In his hand, lay a bright diamond, the size of my head. I gasped at the blinding sight of it, and he quickly pushed it behind his back. “Nothing for you to see in here, off you go back to bed” he said as he ushered me out of the room. I crept back to bed with a dozen questions on my mind. Why does he have such a gigantic diamond? And why is he hiding it?
