The chase

Chapter 3 –  The chase

Downstairs, one of the old, rotten floorboards creaked. They were not alone, someone was in the barn as well. There was only one set of stairs and whoever was in the barn with them was probably about to come up. In the back of the room, there was a pile of hay that towered over the rabbits. Pasco led her siblings behind the hay to hide. Loud footsteps circled the room. It sounded like there were at least five creatures on the bottom floor. Faintly, you could hear the rabbits’ terrified hearts pumping their blood around ten times faster than usual. Soon after, a creature entered the same room as them.

“ALL CLEAR UP HERE!” the creature shouted back to the other creatures.

“Lets go to the next house and try to find those little rabbits.” replied another.

Thankful that they had gone, the three rabbits quickly evacuated the building and began their journey to Pinkwater Warren.

Later that day, they were walking through an old mineshaft, which was covered in spider webs and old torches. When they came out, Pinkwater Warren was within view. The kits hopped harder than they had ever hopped before. To their left, was a mountain with a lovely waterfall, trickling down the mountainside.

Podkin remembered a package had been sitting in his bag. His mother had said, “Only open it once you are near Pinkwater Warren.”

He opened the box to find Flame-Sword, American Blue Warren’s  magical weapon. This was the rarest one of them all. He couldn’t loose it.

Out of the blue, a pain pierced through Podkin’s chest and down all the way to his paw. Something cold. Something wet. Something sharp was  brushing his shoulder. Pasco turned and instantly released a scream so loud some may say it was deafening. A large creature in full iron, who had red eyes, was metres away from the scared rabbits. Within seconds, they were thrusted down towards the centre of the warren. Every Garg member had to have been there. It was packed with seven foot tall creatures wearing iron armour and their blood-red eyes staring at them. They wanted to scream but it was too dangerous, they might be killed if they make too much noise. They stood in the centre of a circle of Garg members. One member stood out though. He was the only one sitting. Pasco said quietly “ I think he’s the sergeant of the Garg.”
