When the cat crept
The adorable, small kitten stared up at me, Large sapphire eyes as blue as the deep aquatic oceans beaming up at my happy, comforted face, Her tabby fur, as shiny as the crescent moon up in the sky swayed like luscious, wavy ripples in a lake filled with life and fantasy. The kitten’s body, ever so small but filled with puffy, light grey and snowy white fluff , rolled around on the floor as merry as a small pair of twin sisters waking up on a white, christmas morning. The kitten’s plumed tail was drifting from side to side like the crunchy, orange leaves, hanging on to the brown stick by a small thread. The kitten belonged to us now
To my surprise , the kitten trotted towards me, it jumped onto my lap and fell asleep. I couldn’t help but smile and giggle while its purr vibrated on my lap.
“It’s time to go,” My sister exclaimed. “The sun is rising and your sister is bound to wake up soon.”
My smile dropped but I felt happy inside still, I raised the kitten off my lap and it trotted off into the bushes, meowing goodbye. We walked back that morning, not realising that we were there for three and a half hours and my little sister Amelia had woken up already. It was already 8 o’clock in the morning and the sun was high in the fiery, blended sky.
We arrived at the house to see my little sister Amelia at the door with a face like thunder.
“You promised me my morning hot chocolate at half past eight!” she roared as we both stepped into the house. “Where is it?” My elder sister walked to the kitchen to turn on the glass kettle, she brought out a jar of cocoa powder and mixed it into the boiling hot water. She walked into the living room and sat down with a cup of cocoa for each of us. My little sister grabbed her mug and trotted off upstairs. Me and my sister were alone and I couldn’t help but ask where Natalie got the small adorable kit from.
“Where did you find the kitten?” I whispered, hoping not to disturb Amelia upstairs and making her turn red with rage.
“I’ll tell you,” she said, “But don’t tell anyone.”
“I won’t,” I exclaimed.
“I was walking in the snow once, ” she began and I suddenly felt myself being attracted to this story like a magnet, she went on to say.
She found the kit in the snow freezing cold. Its fur was frozen and it was so skinny it looked like a walking skeleton. She picked up the poor thing and wrapped it in her scarf. She took it home and gave it a large pile of toasty warm chicken. It ate the whole thing and the kitten lay and slept by the log fire. The next day, she and the kit went outside. My sister found out she liked to play with small rocks, so the kit was named roxy. Now, Roxy lives in the forest of seven acres and hunts small animals like rabbits and ducks.
Later that night, on a warm summer night I dreamed about Roxy, her soft, puffy fur and its stealthiness. How I wished to be with her right now: her ocean blue eyes and sensitive ears, silky whiskers and a heart shaped nose, tiny paws; The cat had whispered to my heart. Now I see Roxy every night, I set traps for rabbits, hares and cottontails and then give the animals to Roxy.
My attitude towards everything I do has been changing over the weeks because of roxy: I’ve always been smiling since I met the cat, I sing hymns that my sister has taught me and I even help my sister with her work but she’s never smiled since, she always acts moody as if she’s the boss. I love Roxy, she’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.
