The Emporium

Prologue

There are some places where no one ever goes. The Magical Emporium was like that.

Even though at Christmas the stars on top of Christmas trees twinkled  like no other’s in the world. Even though there was always a sweetie bowl filled to the brim with the richest chocolate and in danger of falling over. Even though you could smell a fresh cookie dough coming out of the oven.

But no one ever entered. The candles where always snuffed out and the doors where always shut and bolted. It was as if the emporium wanted you to enter but no one ever did. No one that is until Bobby.

Chapter 1-Through the door

Bobby had always been curious and his mother had often warned him that it would lead into trouble. One sunny  morning Bobby was walking down Oak Wood Road when he noticed something unusual about the Emporium. For once The door was open and the candles where lit and on an elaborate chandelier and without really thinking about it he dashed inside.

Everywhere he looked it was packed with wonders and things he wanted to touch or own.

On the floor there was a rough, scarred old sea mine dated back to world war 2.To one side stood an superior looking armour stand complete with a polished long sword and chainmail armour. In the corner on top of a table was an ornate metal lion that was polished to perfection. There was a display of toy trains, decorated vases and odd dream catchers. By the door there was a tip box with nothing but a lonely penny inside. Exotic fish that humans will not discover for another hundred years swam around lazily in a glass tank. But what interested Bobby most of all was an old leather bound-book. As she turned the pages, golden ink weaved across the pages creating various scenes like the top peaks of Mount Everest gleaming in the sun and the winding pathway of the Great Barrier Reef as giant as ever.

“I see you’ve found my book of magic”, hissed a voice. Bobby gasped, closed the book and looked up at the owner. He was an old man whose eyes glinted red in the light. Curled in his hand was an exotic Iguana. It glanced at him disapprovingly.
