Chapter 1: The Strange Shop on the corner
It was a breezy Autumm’s day on October the 31st on Halloween. The leaves had turned shades of red orange and yellow They had slowly fell to the damp streets of Glasgow. Our story today is about a girl named Farren, Farren lived with her dad and her mum had left when she was a young age. Farren was walking down the streets on a normal day the exact instruction her father had said was Buy the milk and come straight home. As Farren was walking down she noticed at the corner of her eye a peculiar shop she had never seen before. It said in big bold writing the pet emporium of desires. she had always longed for a cat that would be by her side. Farren had bad anxiety and felt like she could not tell anyone and when she met a cat in the street she stopped and stroked it. She felt like all her worries just went way till that day she had always wanted a cat. When Farren entered the shop a warm gust of air hit her when she walked in
there was a big poster that read, we are hiring. The salary £900 Farren’s eyes light up she desperately needed the money as her and her dad were going to lose her home. There were little fairy lights twinkling over Farren’s head. A small bark caught her attention it was a group of puppies running around. There were little kittens leaping, baby unicorns flying about It felt magical.
At the corner of her eye sat 3 little water bowls decorated with sequins and beads. The water strangely twinkled in the light “Its magic water” explained the lady at the desk “it keeps them young”. Farren stared at the woman, but she didn’t look at her. She stifled a cough the lady turned around she had red long hair and murky green eyes. “What do you want?” snapped the lady.
Without think Farren blurted out “I would like to get a job please” she said “Ok opening hours are from 9:00-5:00 and my name is Mrs smith and you’re hired so get cleaning” replied Mrs smith sternly. Farren was shocked that she could get a job that easy, but Farren didn’t question anything. At once she got to work immediately. She started to pick up all the scrunched-up paper on the floor and then picked up a red leather book “Stop! Rule, one does not touch that book!”. Shouted the Mrs smith
Farren nodded frightenedly wondering what could possibly be so special about the book.
