To your wonder
Chapter 3
It was a pretty, naturistic mansion with leaves going round the mansions windows, walls and doors. The door was open and without thinking, she stepped inside the mansion, her heart thumped expectably. The hose had everything: toys waiting to be played with; footballs waiting to be kicked; a cup of tea waiting to be drank; a table set for two; and a plate of pancakes.
“Hey” called Cameron, wondering if there was anybody else was there. But he was met by silence. He made his way up the stairs to dark hallway. There was no one in either living room though the couches was all patterned. For a minute, she wondered if she had stepped straight in to the story of the three little pigs.
He had put into his drawing a wish and it didn’t seem as if that was going to come true. There were no signs of that a person lived there. He had never met his Dad but he was certain he wasn’t there. It didn’t feel right. Then he heard it.
Something upstairs; something moving and it was not exactly using its feet. It was a strange dragging sound accompanied by a loud scream. He startled down the steps, plucked up courage and descended step-by-step, trying to keep silent. She stopped and peered round the door in the bathroom. Nothing moved. Only the flush handle on the toilet.
A few minutes later, he heard the sound again. Turning round, she pushed the living room door open. It was then he saw it: A dark shadow-shape came towards her; Scarlet eyes bulged out of a grotesque head; razor sharp talons clawed to the ground. There was no hesitation this time. Camron shoved the mansion door open and, as quick as his leg could go he ran towards the where the door had been.
There was a problem there was nothing there. Nothing except a dark sky. Shapes formed round her “Come back” hissed a voice.
