The Mask of Shadows
When I put on the mask of shadows
A tingling whisper lurks beneath my ear,
The cold rain taps against my heart
and the leaves droop and die upon the trees.
When I wear the mask of shadows
I see the clouds darken,
I hear deep but silent secrets
And my heart is struck cold with fear.
The mask of shadows is made from
A feather from Lucifer’s wing,
The rumbles of the fires of hell
And a handful of midnight dust.
If I lost the mask of shadows
Spirits would rise from the dead,
Silence would scream through the night,
And the Earth’s core would shatter.
