The Confidential Emporium
The Confidential Emporium
Chapter 2
“My name is Vinicius Bronze I am Brazilian,” said a short man, lurking in the dark behind a mahogany desk. A light flickered above the man revealing his pale white face, Logan shuddered in miniature fear. “A lot to observe my good fellow isn’t it ?” he whispered, Logan didn’t know what to reply with so he simply nodded in slight agreement. “As you are my only customer you are completely free to look around, but just before you head off, what is you name? “Erm.. My name is Logan, Logan Fowler,” he replied. “Ok Logan but let me remind, you can touch anything except from my magical Book of Secrets!”
Seconds later, Vinicius Bronze disappeared in a whirl of mist behind a metallic curtain. A small idea slipped into Logan’s head, he edged closer to the Book of Secrets. He longed to know what words and phrases were wrapped up inside the pages, and to write something of his own inside the Book. Logan saw the curtain move and quickly sprinted to the opposite side of the emporium, nothing was in his view so he glimpsed at the book and slowly crept, closer and closer, to the posh desk. Losing interest he walked past the curtain and a dim corridor stretched further than he could of imagined, curiosity rushed through Logan. Gazing at the corridor he noticed something, many ornate doors formally lined up on each side of the room!
Turning back, he opened gingerly opened the Book of Secrets and peered curiously inside, his own eyes widened in disbelieve. Each page held many different ideas describing special worlds and realms, he imagined his own wonder he praised the thought. The were immaculate sketches of rivers, frozen lakes, tropical waterfalls, and revelling forests. Logan grinned in happiness.
Hardly thinking, Logan plucked a gold fountain pen from a translucent jar, and grabbed the Book of Secrets. Remembering the small desk where the man was sat, he sprinted towards it. Opening the book Logan flicked the thick pages aside and stopped on a blank page, he gingerly took the ornate lid off and wrote. Sketching trees and waterfalls everything he longed to see, and added small labels to describe it. Logan grinned in happiness and signed the sketch of with his name. Suddenly, his name turned into a gold colour like the sun, instead of pure pitch black.
Closing the book a rustle came from inside an aged trophy, a tiny monkey crawled joyfully from the silver cup. The monkey greeted Logan with a skittish wave, he then beckoned Logan with a cute hand gesture. Sprinting, Logan followed the monkey into the long corridor he explored earlier, then the monkey came to a harsh halt. A new well furnished door stood proudly with a bronze door-knob. Quickly, thinking Logan knew what to do. He simply entered.
A bright beam of light filtered through the door slightly ajar. Logan shielded his eyes and walked through calmly, some jewelled grass, some desert dry and some moist. All swayed and swished in the light breeze. And a tropical waterfall flowed with fresh clear water creating a small water-pool. It was just like the pages described he laughed in amazement. Hurrying he dived into the water.
