The secrets on the deep, dramatic, distant islands

Prologue

Have you ever gone on a family adventure on a Skyship? In the summer, you would fly over wonderland, soaring high above the trees and fairy houses. When you flew, there would have been blue skies, fluffy clouds and that wonderful sense of freedom. When you flew there would have been the islands from far, the fresh scent of coconuts from down below and even a field of roses. You probably got taken to one of the nearby water parks and landed the ship so you could cool down and have fun. Travelling by Skyship in the summer is like that.

But travelling on an expedition to far off lands is another matter. You should try a Skyswhip journey when the gale force winds blow, thunder rumbles around you and the sky is split into pieces by powerful, jagged lightning. You should also try adventuring there when the ice dragons attack, scrambling across the dark sky awaiting to dig the poisonous claws into your skin or worse – tear the Skyships inflatable apart. You should try being there when the Skyship queen arrives and complains to the staff or when the ship runs out of diesel and it shoots down from the sky like a shooting star. Few people would wish that on anyone. Even experienced flyers think twice about travelling west over the deep, dramatic, distant islands. No one knows what creatures might hibernate there. Rumours has it that there are human – eaters, stone – giants and sky – dragons. Few would wish for asn encounter with a frost – goblin and most say that the runmours are for a good reason.

Chapter 1

The crew gasped in excitement as the Skyship Aurora rose up from the floor and lifted up into the air as the great engine grumbled into society. Captain Merida blared with joy as the sails went up into the air! She stood at the steering wheel happily, grinning at the glistening sun. They were gone!

Ana and Max glazed down at the fluffy clouds down below, passing the coconut island. The scent of the ocean, sand and coconuts fluttered their noses. Ana was happy to be back on an adventure with her family ; Max smiled back at her anxiously whilst standing in silence, looking over the edge, fiddling with his fingers.

Suddenly, Max turned around and said “I hope we find the lost explorer.” “Me too!” explained Ana. She stood there, listening to the warm breeze sing a lullaby through the air whilst curling a lock of hair around her finger.

After an hour Max started to notice twitching light bulbs and shouting from down below. Is that the island that Bethany Wrigglesworth got lost on? There were no people on the other islands could she be there? Max and Ana didn’t know how to feel nervous, excited but they definitely knew that they had butterflies in their stomach.

Ana gripped the deck’s edgeand said, “I really hope we find her.” “Me too!”  Max mentioned.
