Baby Bird By Aphra Morgan
You are a cold pillow,
Satisfying the human on a warm day.
You are a bumper car at a fair,
Knocking into everyone,
Smiling its way through it.
You are a cat,
Spreading its sent everywhere,
Making sure you own everything.
You are a child on holiday,
Crying because they dropped their ice cream,
Their parents trying to settle them.
You are a baby bird,
Breaking through its shell,
Cracking it slowly.
You are a pea,
Next to hundreds of other peas.
You are a penny,
Waiting in a cash register,
Hoping to be put in the warm hands of a human.
You are a Friday afternoon,
Making people happy so they can go back to their house for the weekend.
You are a rug,
Curling up on the wooden floor.
You are the sea,
Making waves,
Helping people surf and play,
Causing damage.
You are a chef,
Stirring up a stew,
Accidentally pushing it off the stove.
You are a boat,
Sailing the waves,
The water crashing on the side of the boat.
You are a child at school,
Frowning,
Watching the clock,
Waiting till they get to go home.
