The serpent’s eye by Alex Dallibar

You are a depressed joke,

Dreading the next day of torment.

You are a crescent moon,

Glistening light against the dark.

You are a lonely, little oak,

Waiting for a friend.

You are an owls wings,

Soft and silent as the night.

You are crying rain,

Covering the world in your sadness.

You are a forgotten cupboard,

Waiting patiently like a predator

Stalking its prey.

You are a roman gladiator,

Awaiting your death.

You are soft stone,

Hard water,

And a cold flame.

You are a spider,

Patiently spinning its silk.

You are a serpent’s eye,

As dark and malevolent as an empty cave.

You are a lonely cherry blossom,

Impatient for you siblings to  bloom.

You are fighting in the Battle of Britain,

Watching your friends fall from the sky like flies.

You are an unlit candle,

Standing in the dark.
