Nightquake
Prologue
Have you ever been on an airship? You haven’t? You get whooshing wind in your hair, summer freshness in your face and a nice, relaxing, up-high break over an island.
Or have you been on one for an expedition to a forbidden place, where the engine has a fault and storms, as fierce as a dragon, rains down. When teetering thunder crisps the turbine, your ship starts a suprising spark, and your rigging rugbie tackles the mast, or it breaks your guiding steering wheel.
Some say gruelling evils from the sea try to take them down for food… Others say they’ve seen angry-slicers come for their lunch. Contrary to your belief, some have seen daring dragons fall mysteriously.
| Chapter 1:Problems
Five days ago, Zack and Yasmin had set off on their journey with their uncle, Captain Geoffrey Cultmower, to find their lost dad. On the Leaf-Carer, Zack rapidly ripped at the railing with all his fidgety might. Yasmin, on the other hand, was steering the ship whistling a cheerful tune. They should be over Libia by now but a sabotage had taken them to the forest of Caroot. |
|
| Suddenly, darts started flying to the ship. Zack pulled one out, they were thick, keen, beastly blow-darts. When Geofferey saw one, he took the wheel. It was only an instant before he started shouting orders. “Get pullin’ these darts out yu’ lazy eagles!” They all started scrambling around the deck. He darted the ship around as fast as a nervous system. | |
Then he had a sigh of relief, for he thought the wretched sea-trolls had gone. They had gone. Or a storm had been working with the trolls, and they got forced in. Through the sea-a-far-scope, they could see: clouds, Mr.Whippy clouds and more creamy clouds, they couldn’t see anything. But they saw a closing escape route at last. “We’re going to a rough landing! Hold on to your backsides!”
