Malamander – Chapter 2 by Erin

Chapter 2

“Why do you need to hide?” I asked in a very confused tone. “Are you ok?”

“I… I.. I’ve seen it.” She says. “Look close – look sharp… shut the door; close the curtains!”

I asked her what she had seen but she didn’t know. When I asked her all she would is shake and her words would mix and match. I was shocked of how terrified she was.

So I decide to tell her “If you can’t tell me what it was or who it was then we will just have to go out and look for it.” I said in my most mature manner.

It took a lot of persuading but I finally got her to come and look for it with me. I have to find her a coat to wear because all she is wearing is thus ruined old jumper and some muddy, ripped pants.

I sneak her out of the theatre and carry on with our journey; letting the cold breeze lead us through the fog. Michelle Taylor which is her name, apparently. She was holding my arm with a firm grip. Her face was trying to look as brave as possible but I could see the glimmer of fear in her eyes. I mean I can’t blame her; with the fog and the icy floor. It was creepy. I felt a cold shiver down my spine. Suddenly I heard a whimper; Michelle was crying. I know at this point in the journey I had to be brave for her; even though I didn’t really know her.

“The… the Croca… Crocodile that… that’s what I saw.” She spluttered out.

The crocodile; I’m saying to myself. What is the crocodile. All of a sudden I stop in my tracks. It couldn’t be I thought… it just couldn’t be. What oh no I thought.

“It couldn’t be it just couldn’t be.” I shouted “Could it?”

I start running back to the theatre; I heard a loud voice behind me. I stopped; Michelle was confused. She dragged me further away from the theatre; against my will.

Suddenly she stopped in her tracks. She stuttered. I turned around and I was about to say “everything was fine” but I didn’t because I couldn’t. I can see two large orange eyes as fierce as fire. I heard it growl and it sounded like a wold hunting for it’s prey.

Michelle grabbed my arm and we ran; not looking back. When we got back I shut the door with all my force, then closed the curtains and hid under a blanket. I was petrified.
