Milkweed
Milkweed
Milkweeds shimmer
like lavender parasols,
protruding outwards
as if the sun
had an everlasting
ray of light
consuming everything.
Their sapphire roots,
like dishevelled
hair obtrude out
from the murky
aroma of polluted
Sewers.
Their hunter-green
stem drifts in
the wind
like a pliable tube,
as thin as a
single toothpick.
Leaves dangle
like small
pencil tips,
raven black,
unpigmented flowers
verged with yellow
divulging unrevealed
caches of pollen
in a gold coating.
