Clockwork chapter 3
Athena sat silent on the potato sack, staring at the floor, while Olivia rummaged desperately for a way out.She checked the window but it was too small to even look out and shouting for help just made things worse. She pressed at the walls and attempted to unlock the door with a paper clip but it was no use.Frustrated, she screeched at Athena for not helping,”Instead you can help sniff some clues to get us out of here but no you just want to sleep and not make an effort at all!” However,Athena just carried on laying on the ripped potato sack, ignoring her like it was impossible. There seemed that there was no way they were getting out of the basement and Athena had already given up.
As a blanket of darkness fell, the shed became a glacier as darkness hovered over them.Inside, there were shadows that extended across the old dusty shed and soon it was pitch black.Outside, stars danced through the night and a pearly white moon hung over the gardens of Bracken Bridge Manor.Suddenly, Olivia heard a noise.Within,a split of a second, Olivia was peering out the window. As a small, low purr separated the darkness and brown radiant eyes appeared-it was Athena, the mechanical cat.Olivia wounded her up as she dropped a small key to the ground.
Using the key,Olivia thoroughly unlocked the front door of the shed.As she stepped out into the moonlit garden,as she followed Athena where they stopped at a lawn and hid in a tiny barn. There,Olivia lit a lamp she had found while Athena explained how she was able to get the key to the shed. They were finally free, but still there were questions that awaited:why did he want this mysterious clock, and what had happened to her father while he was on his airship journey?
