Dear Mother,

Thank you for everything you have done for me. I had thought about who would be my new family. We went to a town called Pallet town. It’s wonderful and quiet.

I am staying with Mrs Serena. The stone cottage is on top of the hill. We get  water from a well in the farm.  When I arrived, she gave me a welcome hug before I went in. She is funny and generous.

I sleep in a big room at the top of the house where I can see trees. At night, when I go to sleep I look out of the window.

My job is to look out for the animals in the farm. It is quiet here. 

I go to a small school near my house. I am learning to write neatly and count to one hundred. We eat lunch inside. Mrs Serena gives me sandwiches, and I play games with my new friends, like skipping on the rope.

I miss you mum, dad and Lila. I hope you guys are safe. Please I beg you to write back to me mum.
