Spring came at last and Mary came to see Ruby every day after school. Mary had made a friend called Khloe. One day Khloe came over to play. As they were playing outside Khloe heard a snifferling sound. “What’s that sound?” said Khloe. “Nothing!” said Mary. But it was too late, Khloe was already behind the blackberry bush screaming in horror. Mary came running behind the bush, her heart pounding. The reason Khloe was screaming was because of Ruby’s’ beady, black eyes and blazing, red fur. “Get it away from me now!” screamed Khloe. When Mary had taken Ruby away from Khloe, Khloe said, “I’m going to tell everyone about today!” Mary’s brain was spinning in worry. She could not let this happen.
