The Sky Ship – Part 3

All night, Tox wondered about the curious place they’d found themselves in. It was like nowhere she had ever seen before. Like nowhere she’d even read about before! Nothing seemed quite right, no matter how friendly and hospitable the locals had been so far…

Alone, she pondered many questions. How come I’ve not seen any other females here? Why are they so keen for us to stay? Who was that statue of and why does it look so much like me? Around and around it went in her head.

Thunder crashed and lightning split the sky in two. Tox pulled the blanket up tight under her chin, shivering slightly. Moro slumped in his hammock, softly snoring, unaware of the explosive weather outside.

Tox rolled her eyes. Exasperated at her brother’s ability to sleep.

How can thunder and lightning not wake him?

At that moment, there was a hammering at the door, Tox slid from her bunk to open it. Her hands trembling…

Silently, Tohiba slipped in through the opening door. He bowed low to Tox, putting his finger to his lips and making a quiet, “Ssshhh,” sound, just as thunder crashed again & the sky was illuminated with electricity that forked and zigzagged across the Heavens.

A dark shadow covered the porthole at the back of the deck. Something shimmered as the lightning struck again.

Tox gasped, Tohiba put a protective hand on her shoulder & steered her behind him as they edged closer to Moro’s hammock to wake him. Tohiba gently shook his shoulder to no avail, Tox leaned in and pinched his nose, waking poor, unsuspecting Moro instantly. He slipped down from the hammock, ready to face anything.

What is it? Could it be the Golden Dragon?

The Sky Ship – Part 2

The air ship landed with a bump, as Moro dumped the dead dragon’s cut up corpse over the side. From above, the pink sun was blaring down on them, as Moro steadied the ship and looked for somewhere to anchor. Unfortunately, they had an audience of about 70 fishermen, dragging nets and hauling strange looking sea creatures out of their boats; they didn’t look impressed at this spectacle.

In the distance, they heard a voice call out, “Stranger, welcome to the Island of Sea. What is the purpose of your visit to out peaceful land?”

“I seek the cave of the Golden Dragon,” Moro respectfully replied. “I’m not entirely sure how I ended up here to be honest, my ship was attacked by that beast there,” he pointed to the pile of flesh on the dockside. Tox looked around suspiciously. Tall. slender houses lined the road above the docks, fishing boats in varying sizes and states of repair bob up and down in the harbour, while men load and unload crates, cages and nets. She held back, wanting to assess the situation they had landed in before revealing her presence to the crowd, gathering around the ship.

“I am Tohiba, this is my island,” he smiled, “You may stay as long as you need, I have no knowledge of the cave of which you speak. Or the outside world at all, I’m afraid.”

“We will stay for one night, thank you Sir, but then we must continue our quest,” Moro replied. “Oh, and I will dispose of the mess shortly, sorry.”

“We?” asked Tohiba. Inside the cabin, Tox rolled her eyes, then stepped out into view.

“We,” she sighed, “But I’m having nothing to do with that mess!”

Tohiba chuckled and bowed low to her, “Greetings fair lady, it is an honour to meet you. I trust you will both join us for dinner this afternoon? As for that,” he gestured towards the dead dragon, “It will make fine bait, the dock masters will deal with it.”

“That sounds wonderful,” enthused Moro. “Forgive my manners, this is my sister Tox, my name is Moro, thank you for your kind hospitality,” returning a bow to their host.

Standing by the guard rail, Tox tilted her head, squinting into the distance. There was something fishy about this place, something beside the actual fish and fishermen. Looking around her, she felt a definite sense of unease, creeping into her bones.

“Hey Moro, do you think that statue looks a bit like me?” she queried, “There’s something very odd about this place, I just know it…”

The sky ship

Moro usually enjoyed flying. Tox, not so much…
Tox moaned non-stop about the height, the air, the clouds, the dew, pretty much everything!
Suddenly, Moro heard a noise. He called out to Tox, to ask if she’d heard it too.
“Whaaaat?” came the angry reply, “I can’t hear you or anything over the sound of this propeller!”
“Then come in here,” Moro called back.
“Huh??” Tox shouted, “What part of I can’t hear you, did you not understand?!”

Without warning, a fierce faced dragon landed on the deck in front of Tox.
Although she was more concerned by it’s breath than it’s appearance.
“Did your mother not tell you to brush your teeth this morning?” Tox winced.
“Who are you talking to?” quizzed Moro.
“No one special, just this little fire dragon.” she called back.
“Fire dragon? Whaaat?” Moro shouted, rushing onto the deck.
He drew his air sword from it’s sheath, raising it to eye level. A huge gust of wind, emitting from it’s tip.

The air ship shuddered and Moro looked surprised. He had no idea how he had done it, but he was very impressed with himself.
The fire dragon, shocked, took a step backwards. Then lurched forwards, displaying elemental powers of it’s own.
Fire like lava soared past Tox’s face. Moro leapt up, wielding the air sword once more, slicing the dragon clean in half.
“Eugh!!” cried Tox in disgust. “You really know how to ruin my day, don’t you Moro?”

The Adventure

I climbed aboard the Destiny’s Bounty, then I started her up and…

Off we flew!

We soared over the land of the Munces and the Gecals, finally we reached dragon’s cove.

Disaster!! Before I could land, the ship was viciously attacked…

By dragons!

So I pulled out my meteor sword and turned them all to stone.

My crew were starting to think that going into the cave to get the diamond of youth was a bad idea.

But I told them that we must go in to retrieve it.

We ventured through the caves, creeping carefully so as not to wake the sleeping dragon.

Sadly, we were unsuccessful in our plight!!

Someone stood on a twig and awoke the dragon in a flash…

She opened her slathering jaws,

Then she breathed fire against the already scorched walls.

Quickly I ran under her body while my courageous crew were distracting her.

With almost super speed, I snatched the diamond.

I ran as fast as my legs would carry me.

I shouted to my crew, “Quick!! Run for your lives!!”

We fled the cave, to the Destiny’s Bounty.

Up, Up and away to safety…

The Red Fire Dragon

The red fire dragon is sat in it’s cave, golden diamonds and jewels all around it. Her wings, black as coal flap to deter the intruder. She roars a thunderous roar! She snarls a menacing snarl! She breathes hot, wet, lava-like breath at the unwanted visitor.

Her three babies step forth, baring their teeth. The first, a white ice dragon, the second, a brown earth dragon, the third, a blue lightning dragon. They try to intimidate the interloper, to scare them from the cave with their elemental powers.

The cave smells damp and oddly metallic, the floor feels slippery like wet river rocks, tinged with algae. The roof has stalactites, threatening to fall onto the infiltrator’s unwitting head. The torch beam picks out sparkling crystals, embedded in the walls and the floor beneath them.

The minacious red dragon, inches forward. The three babies follow, not far behind. Their breath is despair, it is devastation, destruction. The air is thick with fear and hunger. The trespasser is mesmerised by the pearly white teeth of the babies. So fresh and untarnished by time…

The red dragon grows closer, opening her moist leather mouth. Her lips curling upward like a threatening pitbull, rabid and cornered. The three babies follow, learning their craft. Their sharp, pointy tails, trailing on the floor behind them. Twitching. Swishing.

The invader turns terrified, fleeing for their life. Sadly that invader was me…

The Ninja and his Dinosaur.

The ninja jumped up!

He heard a “CRAAAAAAACK”.

Was it the egg?

Or just his bad back?

The ninja looked down.

He started to frown.

He saw the egg move!

“Oh what does that prove?”

The ninja was worried.

What is in this egg?

Is it a nice kid?

Or will it eat my leg??

The ninja was wide eyed.

The egg was hatching!!!

I hope it’s a dragon.

The back of my tabi matching.

The ninja stood still.

His eyes full of wonder.

Awaiting the thrill.

Then he heard thunder.

The ninja was frightened.

As ground shook beneath him.

Something was coming.

He hoped it wont eat him!

The ninja was amazed.

When he saw it at first.

It stood 30 feet tall!

His heart nearly burst!

The ninja was happy.

He knew this was mum.

The baby is ready.

So out he did come.

The Ninja is Dad now.

To a baby T-Rex.

Mum looks on calmly.

She knows what to expect.

The ninja says proudly,

“I will train him up well.”

Mummy T-Rex growls loudly.

Her breath leaves a smell.

The ninja screws his nose up.

“I will clean his teeth daily!”

He’ll make the best ninja.

“I will call him Bailey!”
