Treasure Adventure

If I were summoned,

to create treasure,

I would take:

The heart of a daring dodo,

a spark from a speedy firework,

and the tongue of a broad dinosaur.

The sparkly ears of a leaf-nosed-bat,

the frost bite of a cold haired polar bear,

And the itchy sting from a mosquito’s mouth.

A fragile iron plated necklace,

made from a time now lost,

And an abandoned cruise ship perplexed in the sea.

A mirror image of a mythical Griffin,

A sword- billed-hummingbird,

And a swirly multi-colored horn of a unicorn.

A snowball from the top

Of the algid north pole

In the country of Alaska.

A gem from the sea of Hunza Valley,

the powerful temper of a storm in China,

And a rusty genie pot found in Saudi Arabia.

Imagination Book Of Drawings!

‘’Welcome, my name is Emma May,’’ she said, glaring at Rose until she moved off the chair, awkwardly. “This shop belongs to me. Do you admire it?’’ Rose didn’t know what to say so she just nodded her head uncontrollably while her cheeks blushed pink and red. “Here is my Book of Wonders, you are free to browse around my beautiful shop but do not touch the book!’’ warned the owner.

Milliseconds later, Emma May had disappeared with a swish of her never ending, red velvet gown behind a curtain so that Rose was alone. Retreating back, she opened the leather bound book. Each fresh page contained a different scheme for some sort of magical world. There were drawings and notes about cities, towns, countries, villages, forests, savanas, oceans, mountains and more. In each place there were wonders beyond imagination and curiosity.

The next thing Rose knew, there was a fountain pen in her hand and she was drawing an island and inside the island there was a stilt house, and through the window, she drew the outline of the one and only thing that she longed for most of all.

“Follow me, ” said the Siamese fat cat. Rose closed the book and without thinking for even a second she followed. She opened the peignoir door and entered. She stepped, not into a room, but into a tropical island. Sunlight filtered through the palm trees. She paused and listened. It was quite peaceful, except for the sound of the birds fluttering through the trees. A path scattered away from her, towards the most beautiful stilt house ever imagined. The most strangest thing was that it all looked exactly as she had imagined; exactly as she had drawn inside Emma May’s Book of Wonders. Without even breathing, without  even looking back, without any bother, Rose ran down the path towards the unimaginable stilt house.

Her head spun round, the house had everything that she needed: a cozy dream living room with a emerald sofa; a wood fire burning brightly like the burning hot sun; a massive kitchen with shiny golden cups and expensive edition  plates and a cooker that shined like freshly brushed teeth; a table that was set for two with a tea set and the pot was filled with delicious creamy cookies; and a plate of toasted teacakes ready to be eaten. “Hello,” shouted Rose, wondering if anyone else was there. But she was met with thin silence.

A moment later, she heard the sound. Twirling  round, she pushed the living room door open. It was then that she saw a dark shadow-shape trodded towards her: violet eyes bulged out of a ugly head and its face turned red like a picture of mars glued to its face; and razor sharp spikes clawed the ground like a lion on full range. There was no thinking this time. Rose shoved the door open and, as fast as her legs could carry her, she dashed back up the curved path, through the island forest and towards where the door had been. But there was nothing there. Nothing that is except for more forest, stretching onwards, darkening with creepy shadows and shapes and blood-curling silhouettes that moved without hesitation. “Get Her,” hissed  a voice behind her!

The Emporium of wonder- Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Rose  has  constantly been peculiar and her parents would warn her that it would lead to disasters. One bright morning, she was strolling down Melody Drive when she spotted something strange about the Emporium. For the first time the door was wide open and without thinking for a second she stepped inside.

Everywhere Rose glanced at, was filled  with wonderous  things that she admired. She saw a gold cage of robbins hanging from the ceiling and their beady eyes stared in mischief. A train glowed  as it moved in circles, casting mysterious shadows. Several Chestnut Coloured Clocks ticked together as their second hand raced through the clock face. On a desk sat  a bowl of fruit that shone like stars. There was a display of ancient small rocking horses, china dolls and teddy bears.Coloured sticks and umbrellas swung from a beam making it seem as if the ceiling was like a rainbow. To a point, stood a rack of prehistoric clothes, covered in brown and black. Goldfish swam in a glass bowl, their scales like polished gold. But what fascinated Rose the most was an old leather-bound book. As she turned the fresh smelling pages, the writing seemed to surge alive and the letters crowded like  ants forming different images.

‘’ I see you have discovered my book of wonders’’ hissed a scary voice. Rose looked at the owner in shock. He was an old crooked man whose hair shimmered like stars. On his head sat a Siamese fat cat it purred and gave Rose a cute look which warmed her heart.

The doors of colers

Go and open the Alabaster door,

Maybe there is a row of Snowballs,

 the swirl of snowflakes dancing,

or a fluffy white rabbit  nibbling on white lettuce.

Go and open the ebony door,

maybe you will see an aesthetic panther,

a jet black gorilla eating sweet grapes,

Or a worm hole devouring your body.

Go and open the merlot door,

maybe you will see Santa Claus giving presents,

a  row of a million poppies  and Roses,

or a fiery red lava oozing out of a creator.

Go and open the berry blue door,

 maybe you’ll see dragonflies flying,

Blue highlighters melting in the sun,

or a full Field filled with beautiful balloons.

Go and open the Magenta door,

maybe you’ll see a meadow of lavender,

a purple butterfly spreading its wings,

or a Mulberry onion making you cry.

1st Letter home!

Dear Mammy,

Thanks for the fresh fruit and the silky blanket

It kept me fresh and ready on the train. What felt like a century later,we finally arrived and came to stop in Liverpool, and the beach view was beautiful. The waves curled like glue around your finger. The weather was a lot cooler than home especially since when  there was fire everywhere it made us all hot and burned.I stood there wishing to be picked at least third but thankfully i was picked second to have a guardian first was a girl called alice she was picked first because she was the cutest.I must have been pickles because i was the cleanest.A tall skinny woman stood there with a baby girl in her arms she was quite pretty but stern at the same time. She clutched my arm gently and took me in her luxurious car she told me to rest as she gave me a friendly smile. My heart expressed with ease as i had a nice guardian who was treating me kindly she had put me at the back of the seat and i  unfolded my blanket and lay in peace it had felt like a long journey home.

Finally, we arrived at my guardians house. Her name is Lucy but she said I could call her mam.She lived in a cottage and had a beautiful front garden with flower beds and roses. She lived in a cosy bungalow with her daughters.Lilly,Isabella,Isla and Charlotte.

Lucy’s daughters had said that i could share a room with anyone. Isla was the oldest so she had the biggest room and she had let me in hers. Me and her were the same age and we got along really well.At night me and Isla would play chess and marbles sometimes the girls would come inside and play to.In the night,me and Isla would hear birds chirping and in the morning we would hear the cockerel at breakfast and sun rise.We would have bread, cheese, yogurt and fruit.

You’ll never believe that their family has a cat and a Labrador dog they keep them in the shed but it is no ordinary shed they have made it into a playhouse.Since they are kind they said i could feed the cat and dog the cats name is Belle and the dogs name is Ruff.Belle eats Mice and Ruff eats meat.I am also allowed to collect the eggs from their chicken pen on there farm and Lucy  cooks the egg and we eat it with bread.

Lockwood Village is a community of lots of cottages. There are about 60 houses they all have their own alleyway leading to the same place it leads to the park. The fields and hills are fresh and their smell is fabulous. The trees has a summer breeze swaying fresh air on your face it nothing like home. Each day we go to the park with Lucy.If the weather is nice but it always is me and Isla play on the swing all the time.

Lucy takes us in her car to school. It takes about 5 minutes to get there. The school is called Dock bridge high. It’s a primary school we all go to.In school when we come we come with our gas mask and ration book to exchange for food.In the morning we come to pray for the world war and then we go to class me and Isla are in the same class so we sit together she is really nice and sometimes i think they are my sisters. We have lunch on the field Lucy packs me and Isla a cheese sandwich with yogurt and fruit.Other people have chicken pie or fruit. After lunch we play on the field me and Isla draw a hopscotch and we play with it.Plus my  teacher is nice and kind to me.

I hope you and dad are okay and I hope you stay safe and tell dad I love him and you. I miss you to the moon and back.

When Blossom Changes

Aphromoon glared at Blossom,Blossom’s brain froze in fear. Her amber fur reflected on the moon and shone. Her eyes as green as the summer trees giving the look of death. She opened her mouth and the thing that caught Blossoms attention was her sharp jagged teeth. Her fur looked like a newborn lambs’ hair  that had not grown at all since the start of her life. Her claws were as sharp as a needle poking into soft skin. Aphromoon glared at Blossom,She pounded towards her then she lift up her paw in a friendly way and squeaked she came forward and Mrs Wood said ‘’she likes you go on shake her paw’’Blossom got her hand out and shakes her paw.Blossom was fascinated.

‘’She is very attached to you’’said Mrs Wood.’’,as Aphromoon turned,to escape in the bushes.Blossom looked at Mrs Wood and she could not stop herself from smiling at Mrs Wood.On their way back to the cottage, the wind howled like a lone wolf the trees swayed and the moon’s light showed the way to there cottage.Blossom knew they were being watched she stopped and looked back for a second though they say not to look back. For a millisecond,he saw the green eyes of Aphromoon staring into her soul.

‘’She will be watching us’’said Mrs Wood.’’I found her a few years back in the desert of egypt she want this wild before she was just a baby then hungry.Someone must have left her there to starve or she might have escaped because at that time she was out of breath.I think they could not feed all of the animals so they let them out with the war.I brought her here to a safe place where no one could see her or harm her.My she grew like a bamboo stick 1 meter a day.’’She is our secret now’’said Mrs Wood.’’They would kill her if they saw her no one must ever know.’’

That late night,Blossom was dreaming in the night of Aphromoon getting killed by the soldiers. Her eyes lost the colour and in the dead of the night she was gone. But the second she had woke up she knew she would visit her every night to make sure she was safe from harm and that she was comfy. So every night Blossom would take any scraps she would find from dinner and put them in her velvet coat pocket and went off to find her and feed her.She had learned from her school friend how to catch a deer and at times she would set a trap and catch a deer. But of course she would let Aphromoon catch her own dinner she would catch Rabbits,Mice,Lizards,Snakes and Antelopes. Aphromoon would be very shy but in a while  Blossom and Aphromoon became friends.

In the dead of night,Aphromoon let Blossom stroke her fur and she purred at Blossom.Within days, she would pick Blossom’s pockets and chomp up the ************ making a low and contended purr. But Blossom changed her mood. She would always be nice to Mrs Wood and she would never moan when Mrs Wood said do your chores. When Blossom went in the night to feed Aphromoon she would sing songs and even whistle in a good mood.Over the years Mrs Wood would notice how a little girl bonded with a sweet Hyena.

The secret has been Revealed!

Chapter 3

As the July holidays flew by like a rocket. Every day, Blossom checked her traps and wandered the fields in harmony and interest. The fields had grown up to Blossom’s hip height as she trudged closer and closer to the flowers and birds of ambition. Unlike home Blossom liked the calmness and mystery around the cottages; it was much more peaceful here. Just the way she liked it. The birds chirping in excitement, the wind blowing across her long blonde hair. The scarlet flowers opening with the friendship of the sun. As the pleasant sunlight brushed on the flowers burning the edges in the colour of black. Blossom had finally found hope inside her owner and surroundings.

At nightfall, Blossom made her way into the forest where she met Aphromooon and comforted her in her sleep. Sometimes they would go in search for the sweetest most sourest berries in the whole of Groves Woodland. Every day, Aphromoon would sense something wriggling in the bushes and she would always move side to side and smell a yummy treat for her.She would be back with a shrew or rabbit of some sort. While they were there they got to know many animals like the great falcon that flew overhead in the moonlight or the Mountain Blue Bird that chirps its songs into your delicate ear drums.

The one thing that worried poor Blossom was that someone or something might step on her and she might go crazy. So when she was sleeping in the night Blossom had put up a tent next to Aphromoon for one night to see whether anyone comes to Groves Woodland but no one came that night. But in the middle of the night Aphromoon would wander around the woods in search of food but with the colour of her fur she would blend in just right.

Disaster had happened, One night Blossom left Aphromoon in the woods to stay. One night towards the beginning of August Blossom was making her way down into Groves Woodland when suddenly she heard a loud scream. It sounded like her friend Rose from school. What would she be doing here? Blossom ran as fast as she could until she saw it. A few steps away there stood Rose petrified in fear.’’B B…loss..om’’she stuttered in panic taking a mini step back.

‘’Keep still’’ whispered Blossom, Staring at Aphromoon’s  marble green eyes that reflected on the green trees. She held her hand out with a piece of meat and called her gently.Rose made no eye contact and ran as fast as her legs could carry her. Blossom could hear Rose panting heavily. Aphromoon shaked her fur and took the piece of meat and disappeared in the darkness. Blossom’s heart pumped hard and fast she needed to think. What should she do? It cant go on like this for longer. Blossom made her way back to the cottage. This was madness.

The secret has been kept for so long and it was out of their  hands. When Blossom had reached home she had a long discussion about what they should do with Aphromoon. Maybe they could move into the cottage and keep her in the attic. Where Aphromoon could live in peace.

In the tower of rooms!

I floated in the room of beautiful balloons,

that bumped and  bounced across the walls.

In the room of nature,

tree branches lightly kissed,

my rose red cheeks as I looked at them in amazement.

In the room of the powerful flames,

I fearfully watched  people scream,

in horror as the fire glared into the people’s humorous souls.

In the room of perpetual ice,

fire began to scatter,

 as the room shattered,

 into unknown pieces of life.

In the room of clocks,

I heard the echo of ticks,

like I was in an ancient shop.

Finally, I trudged in the room of snow,

and my body felt hypothermic.

When the storm brews!

Chapter 4

The next Morning the sun shone. Sun covered the flowers in peace; the sun burned the grass like a ready made pie , touching the edges of a baby’s finger; the sun reflected on the cottages, causing it to put holes in the roof. It was like Egypt , having moved to our home town. You could see Mrs Wood , spilling water over her head to get nice and cool , while the sun burned Blossom’s skin. Through the window Mrs Wood kept shouting that we would die at this rate.

But Blossom did not care, what she said at this point she had to go save Aphromoon and bring her back to where she belonged. If she didn’t they would die of the heat. She would need to think of some way of letting Blossom go. Blossom decided to take the chance since she was already outside, all  she had to do was run away and rescue Aphromoon.

Outside, the sun burned Blossom’s delicate skin. It creeped in slowly inside Blossom’s t-shirt and stung her like a bee. Impatiently she ran down into Groves Woodland looking for Aphromoon’s call. But only the heat responded back to Blossom’s call.

She paused as Mrs Cathy’s house and knocked on the door a dark face appeared, a tall woman growled and said ‘’What do ya want eh leave me alone you got that.’’ Blossom’s face went pale. Mrs Wood had told Blossom that  Mrs Cathy was an ignorant woman, a non stop chatter and an annoying little tattletale. But Blossom had no time to waste; she had to find Rose.

Sure enough Blossom could already see Mrs Woods point but blossom had no time to chit chat she entered her house and with a loud boom Mrs Cathy had shouted ‘’Don’t even come in ear with your mucky little feet stepping all over my clean and shiny floor.’’ She snapped, surprised at the thought of getting her floor dirty.

‘’Sorry Mrs Cathy, but have you seen Rose anywhere this morning? Said Blossom, gently. Mrs Cathy inhaled in. Dead rat more like she thought to herself. ‘’No I have not’’ she pushed Blossom out and slammed the door shut.

Blossom sat at the bottom of a tree near the market. She could hear the people talking and the wind whistling which made her shiver. It was then, by the trees she thought maybe Rose had gone back to see Aphromoon. It was like she wanted to speak to Aphromoon  Blossom could hear her footsteps in the woods and her breath sounding heavily. It did make sense Rose had said she wanted to give animals a chance and she also said she would go down to find something fierce. It would be a thing that Rose would have done without thinking twice.

Now, this whole mystery story was nearly 40 years ago. Rose had come back! Somehow she had gone over her fear and had gone back, to give Aphromoon a chance. I saw her stammering in fear whispering to Aphromoon she had said ‘’ p..lea..se coul..d we ..b.b..e fr..ien..ds.’’

Rose is gone now. She had grown older and in the summer she went down into the darkness where berries grew and slowly without knowing she had eaten a poisonous berry. Her death was too sudden. Blossom and Rose could never see each other again and most of all her friendship with Aphromoon had ended. Still I dream about Rose and Aphromoon playing with happiness though that happiness had not lived for long. Soon after the war had ended in my hometown I had to say goodbye to Mrs Wood but Aphromoon was gone, her shadow still in the corner of the room.

One day in July, Mrs Wood had written to me to tell me that Aphromoon had gone even from the corner of the room. Our beautiful Aphromoon had died, her flower rotten. Though sometimes in the night her fur reflected on the moon and a shot of light glistened on my window. The beautiful memory of the great hyena who had lived for many years.
