July

It was a warm morning in July.

The sun was beaming down on Ludham.

Shadows crept around the corner as the sun climbed higher in the sky.

Arthur put more sun cream on to go to the shop.

The heat burnt down on him the house turned a slight red.

The shop closed as he reached it.

The streets were silent.

Bear

Bear, Bear, why have sharp claws to intimidate any one to steal your pray.

Bear, Bear, why do you eat fish because their tastes can’t be beat.

Bear, Bear, why scratch your back on a tree’s because you can’t reach the scratch on your back.

Bear, Bear, why do you hibernate do you not like the cold winter snow?

Bear, Bear, why so big do you want to touch the sky?

Bear, Bear, why so fury to protect the cold winter air?

Bear, Bear, why live around the wold to find the home?

Bear, Bear, why live in caves because it’s your style?

The foxes’ adventures chapter 3

Remarkably, the wolves howling were the chiefs Mr and Mrs Skiloszi. They were covered in metallic armour and were strolling towards the door purposefully. On the other side of the door, goblins were standing ready to fight.

After a long, gruesome fight the goblins retreated. When the wolves had gone to talk to them Samuel saw his chance. Quietly, Samuel crept back to the burrow to tell the others what he had seen.  Sally, who was shaken, decided they should set off straight away. Samuel agreed.

Not long after sunrise, the brave foxes set off towards Complicated Clifface. Their journey took most of the day and they were tired. Eventually, they made it to Complicated Clifface. Sol was very scared of toppling off the edge so he hid inside a nearby cave. Just before nightfall, Samuel and Sally stared at the stars when Samuel suddenly noticed it had been snowing a lot today.

Outside the cave, the wind blew ferociously. Inside, Samuel and Sally busied themselves by throwing stones at each other whilst Sol slept soundly. After they had finished throwing stones, Samuel found his fathers only gift inside his home – knitted bag. It was a sword with the words ,”I will return!” engraved on the back.

The roof of the cave suddenly started shaking as if it was going to fall in. Just a few seconds later, the same goblins from enemy territory came tumbling through the cave entrance. Shellshocked, Samuel stood and stared in the utmost disbelief. Immediately the three of them were tangled in spider’s webs. Samuel and Sally were furious but clearly Sol just thought it was a soft bed.

Seconds later, the chief wolves snuck into the cave. “ Trying to escape,” Sneered Mr Skiloszi. “I don’t think so,” he added. By now, the foxes were surrounded and being led back to the underground heart of enemy territory. As they were being walked over the plains Sally overheard some of the wolves talking about their next target. The treacherous caverns of Cavey Cliffs!

Chapter two of my story

After a long night’s sleep, Samuel awoke as he heard someone tapping at the tree trunk. Terrified, he hid just to realise that it was Roberto with a message from their mother to say that the wolves had completely destroyed beautiful burrows and were on their tracks. 5 minutes later, they were off heading towards enemy territory where they planned to hide and steal food.

The forest was silent. In the night there had been a massive snowstorm and icicles still hung from tree’s branches. Sally and Sol had a lovely time picking flowers and blowing dandelions and their morale was very high. On the other hand, Roberto and Samuel discussed the chances that their families  had survived. After a lot of trekking they could finally see the guarded outskirts of enemy territory. There must be loads of food in there thought Samuel.

Some time later, they arrived at enemy territory. Miraculously, it was Sol, who was throwing stones, that found a fox hole and everyone jumped in.

The smell was foul. However many badgers could possibly go down one hole thought Roberto. Enemy territory would be the perfect place to hide as there are loads of burrows to hide in and places that you can steal food from.

As the moon became visible in the sky, Samuel found the perfect place to hide. It was a deep burrow far away from prying eyes and was close to a food stall they could steal from. Outside, the wind lashed fiercely. Inside, Samuel and Sally said their farewells to Roberto whilst baby Sol was fast asleep.

Afterwards, Samuel slipped into the deserted hallway. They needed food. He kept to the inky dark patches by the wall and heard howles round every corner. Danger was everywhere. He kept by the walls so he wouldn’t be seen. He saw a food stall in the distance and found it was deserted. Good. He managed to steal 15 carrots, a loaf of bread, some meat and some milk so at least they would not be hungry on their journey.

At that moment, a howl came from the end of the hall.  Simultaneously, five more howls followed and Samuel hid. Red eyes came and went but they didn’t see Samuel who was hiding in the shadows.

The wolves who he had heard each picked up what looked like a very sharp weapon. Praying he would not be seen, Samuel stuck to the shadows.

The adventures of the brave little foxes chapter 1

Finally they were ready to leave

That morning, a message from Roberto said that the Wolves had just crossed Rounding River: no one would be safe. Their home burrows were so shallow they would never survive an attack and they couldn’t sail to Snowchester as the port of Snowchester was also  dominated by wolves.

So, Samuel, Sally and baby Sol left home. Their journey would take at least two weeks but first they had to go through Salty Lake, trudge through Flowery Forest, weave through Complicated Cliffside, cross Rickety Bridge, somehow survive Ferocious Forest before they finally made it to the safety of Cavey Cliffs. Their mother had given them an ancient map that was 2,000 years old and is still legible.

Holding the map, the brave foxes set off on their journey. After walking through the plains for what seemed like ages before they finally saw the blue of Salty Lake. As Samuel was the leader, he decided to have a lunch break on the banks of the lake. Whilst eating, they discussed plans and by the end of lunch were sure they would make it to Flowery Forest by the end of the day. Suddenly, as they were leaving the hole that they had eaten lunch in they heard the howling of Wolves. Terrified, the three jumped back into their hole and hid for their lives.

Thankfully, 30 minutes later, the wolves had gone. Relieved, Samuel led his little company out of the hole and towards Flowery Forest. Sol was getting tired and cold but Sally did a great job of keeping him going. After a lot of walking they finally saw the Primroses of Flowery Forest!

Trembling with excitement, once they were in Flowery Forest they dug out a small hole underneath a tree. As soon as they had finished patching up the entrance, Sol tried to get to sleep. Unfortunately for him, there was still another meal. They had more meat that their mother had packed and also nibbled at some nuts. Climbing into bed, immediately after dinner, Sol was fast asleep.

After Sally had gone to sleep, Samuel sat staring at the silver crescent moon and the stars wondering: Would they ever make it to the safety of Cavey Cliffs.

How to care for a Water Unicorn

Have you just bought a species of pet unicorn? Are you scared you won’t know what to do with it? Fear not, you have picked up the right thing! Read these instructions and you’ll be ready to go with your unicorn!

What you will need

A shady space, animals to use as food such as mice and rats, flowers for the unicorn to smell and feed on, plenty of kindness and a ring of daisies.

What to do

  1. You need to let your unicorn roam freely. Try and make the time to take your unicorn on walks in nearby woods. Also, if you get out your ring of daisies your unicorn will smell them and immediately come back to you however far away.

  1. Make sure your unicorn enjoys their shady space. If not, you must make a new shady space in an area that your unicorn loves.

  1. Dinner times can be stressful so you need to follow these instructions to the letter. Firstly, make sure your unicorn eats outside as they are messy eaters. Next, make sure you feed it its favourite foods: mice, rats and flowers. Finally, make sure you store the remains of the meal as your unicorn would like to snack the next day.

  1. Sing to your unicorns as they love music. Especially, do this when they are trying to sleep, so they can get to sleep quickly and be fresh and ready for the next day

Final word of caution

Whilst, these creatures are really fun to play with, you also have to be super careful. These animals will have to be released eventually. This will be a sad day but if you have fed it healthily one day it will return.

Unicorn spotted!

Unicorn spotted by citizen in local forest!

Last Thursday, Benny Bartholomew, 57 years old, spotted a unicorn grazing in Fleeding Forest. Benny, who is a carpenter, was going out to gather wood when he heard a clip – clop noise. She told the Local News that this creature was pure white and had wings. They thought it was a species of unicorn.

When Local News interviewed Benny yesterday, she told us that she felt shocked and thought it must have been a dream but he was also rather excited. He added that,” Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would ever see a unicorn in Fleeding Forest”.

The Local police, who were amazed by Benny’s interview, have warned local citizens that they need to be careful. Also advising that they should report any out of the ordinary sightings. Local Unicornologist Dr Anthony said, “If unicorns are this near towns then we need to stop destroying their natural habitat. He added that, if these unicorns breed they could start taking over the town.

What is and are

What are

What are really big and heavy? Snowballs in the snow, When it’s christmas time.

What is shiny? The sun in the sky lighting up the world.

What is cold? In my drink on a summer day.

What is small? Ant as my small handwriting.

What is large when my cat walks around with a fat tummy round like he’s the boss.

What is silent? When You go to the woods with a river.

What are hot when you go on holiday at the beach when its a hot day.

What is shiny

What is shiny? The luminescence of a shepherd’s tear as he considers another Romanian sunrise and a dragons nose in the sun. What is dull? A mirror fogged from a hot shower and the moon on a cloudy night

What are smooth? A con man’s tricks and a polished wooden table

What is rough ? A man’s stubble and a snapping metal cable.

Arthur’s Couplet poem

I have never but I have…

I have never had a bear hug from a grizzly bear,

but I have had a bear hug from my mum.

I have never contemplated  underneath a palm tree,

But I have contemplated under a willow.

I have never played football with Lionel Messi,

But I have played football with my Dad on Hampstead Heath.

I have never climbed to the top of Mount Everest,

But I have climbed to the top of Kite Hill.

I have never had an English lesson with J.K. Rowling,

But I have had an English lesson with our teacher Charlotte.

I have never been shopping in a Lamborghini,

But I have been shopping in a Qashqai at Oxford Circus.

I have never seen the statue of Liberty,

But I have heard the bang of Big Ben’s bell.

I have never leaped off of a Japanese super train,

But I have leaped off of the C11

I have never seen Concord frying in the sky,

But I have seen twinkling stars lighting up the night sky like buttons on an endless, black coat.
