The adventures of the brave little foxes chapter 1
Finally they were ready to leave
That morning, a message from Roberto said that the Wolves had just crossed Rounding River: no one would be safe. Their home burrows were so shallow they would never survive an attack and they couldn’t sail to Snowchester as the port of Snowchester was also dominated by wolves.
So, Samuel, Sally and baby Sol left home. Their journey would take at least two weeks but first they had to go through Salty Lake, trudge through Flowery Forest, weave through Complicated Cliffside, cross Rickety Bridge, somehow survive Ferocious Forest before they finally made it to the safety of Cavey Cliffs. Their mother had given them an ancient map that was 2,000 years old and is still legible.
Holding the map, the brave foxes set off on their journey. After walking through the plains for what seemed like ages before they finally saw the blue of Salty Lake. As Samuel was the leader, he decided to have a lunch break on the banks of the lake. Whilst eating, they discussed plans and by the end of lunch were sure they would make it to Flowery Forest by the end of the day. Suddenly, as they were leaving the hole that they had eaten lunch in they heard the howling of Wolves. Terrified, the three jumped back into their hole and hid for their lives.
Thankfully, 30 minutes later, the wolves had gone. Relieved, Samuel led his little company out of the hole and towards Flowery Forest. Sol was getting tired and cold but Sally did a great job of keeping him going. After a lot of walking they finally saw the Primroses of Flowery Forest!
Trembling with excitement, once they were in Flowery Forest they dug out a small hole underneath a tree. As soon as they had finished patching up the entrance, Sol tried to get to sleep. Unfortunately for him, there was still another meal. They had more meat that their mother had packed and also nibbled at some nuts. Climbing into bed, immediately after dinner, Sol was fast asleep.
After Sally had gone to sleep, Samuel sat staring at the silver crescent moon and the stars wondering: Would they ever make it to the safety of Cavey Cliffs.
