Grass unicorns

Grass Unicorns

Introduction

The Grass Unicorn is a fairly rare type of unicorn, which can grow whole fields of flowers in mere seconds. It is also the most confident type of unicorn, because it is in the habit of walking up to tourists and expecting to be fed! Grass unicorns have many magical properties, although you will only receive one of their gifts of good luck if one of their kind trusts you unconditionally.

Habitat

Generally, grass unicorns just meander around in grassy countrysides and sleep in ‘burrows’ in clumps of trees that they dig with their hooves. These holes in the grond are covered in leaves to disguise their young from predators such as foxes and badgers while they are looking for food, as their foals are blind for around 6 months after birth. If you are walking and you find a big heap of dirt and things near some trees, then most likely that there is a Grass Unicorn burrow in the trees and in a few months you can check on them, and maybe even feed them. Also, if you are checking on them and/or feeding them, watch out for large patches of leaves on the floor. There have been broken bones in the past because of falling into a unicorn burrow.

Appearance

Although unicorns are typically white, Grass unicorns are an exception. They are earthy brown, with a mane and tail made of vines and grass that winds up their legs. It is the shortest unicorn, about one meter forty in adulthood and about one meter ten in childhood. It’s horn is gold, and smooth at the top. The horn is around 7 centimeters and is blunt because this type of unicorn does not need to stab its prey. (see Diet)  It has dark green eyes the color of leaves and thick 6 centimetre hooves.

Diet

Have you ever seen a unicorn growing flowers? Unlike its relatives, the Grass Unicorn is a vegetarian, dining on seeds. Amazingly, this special unicorn is able to grow a mini replication of the fruit or flower of the seed it eats on its vine mane or tail. Once in 1728, a farmer was put to death for selling  illegal fruits or vegetables from a Grass Unicorn he had in captivity for unfair prices. The unicorn was released back into the wild after its injuries were treated.

Behaviour and Habits

The Grass Unicorn is extremely friendly and good natured, and it enjoys going up to hikers and making friends with them. Sometimes a unicorn will trick you into feeding them by using big pleading eyes, a sucked in stomach and a flowerless mane. Never trust this! Grass Unicorns, although they love being fed, can die from consuming too much human food.

Conclusion

Sadly, even though these creatures are amazing, there are only about 2,000 of them left in the wild due to starvation. If you can, whenever you are somewhere these unicorns may roam, bring a handful of seeds and feed them  to one if you can find some. Hopefully you’ll get some good luck!

What are large

What are large?

What are large? An elephant, trumpeting loud and long into the night, an

oak tree, rooted to the same spot for life, and the London Eye, with

people at the top marvelling at the London skyline.

What are small? An insect scuttling along the dirt, avoiding the

flurry of feet, all with places to be, a bright orange monarch butterfly,

fluttering around in the sky, and the start of a good idea.

What are hot? A fizzing firework, eager to be shot into the sky, the

blazing jet-black coals on a barbeque, glowing bright red, and Skip’s kiln,

hardening pots and plates.

What are cold? Bare feet on hard grey stone, ice in a drink, fresh out of the freezer and

water from a lake in the morning

What are shiny? The glint of stolen  treasures in a magpie’s nest, the shimmer of

sunlight reflecting, and the sand on a beach, shining like diamonds in the sun.

What are dull? A scuffed brown work suit, having nothing to do on a hot day, and a

dinner that you had the previous night.

What are fast? A meteorite zooming past Earth carrying wishes, a silver bullet rocketing

out of the barrel of a gun, and time ticking you older every second.

What are slow? Snail slime oozing along after the snail, a cat stretching out, easing

into the morning, and waiting for someone who will never come.

I have never Charlotte

I have never…

I have never befriended an Oceanoid,

But I have defeated one in a game.

I have never eaten meat on ice-cream,

But I have eaten ice-cream.

I have never ridden a blood moon,

But I have seen one.

I have never witnessed a singer stealing lollipops,

But I have bought some in a store.

I have never lived in Death valley,

But I have seen pictures of it before.

I have never seen the statue of liberty,

But I have seen videos of it before.

I have never…

I have never stolen the Mona Lisa in the dead of night,

But I have taken a bit of wood from a bin in the broad daylight.

I have never tasted the finest cuisine in the world,

But I have scoffed a toasted bonfire ham and cheese sandwich, crisp as an autumn day.

I have never jumped out of a plane,

But I have leapt out of a tree waving an umbrella.

I have never won the Tour De France,

But I have sped daringly down the Strawberry Line on the Hot Rod.

I have never used a World War 2 rifle,

But I have shot my 20-year-old cousin Tyler with a water gun.

I have never visited space in the Apollo,

But I have put my head through a board with astronauts on.

I have never travelled around the world in 80 days,

But I have mastered jumping all the way across the trampoline before anyone else.

I have never found a T-rex fossil,

But I have discovered a shell at the beach that you can hear the sea in.

I have never fed a lion raw meat,

But I have left cat food for the coal-black kittens that lived under Skip’s tractor.

Behind The Door

Go and open the blue door,

maybe there is –
the vast ocean, stretching to the horizon,
the clear sky sitting calmly on a seat of fluffy clouds
or a blue bird singing a sweet melody.

Go and open the yellow door,
maybe there is a flood of buttercups swaying in the breeze,
a golden goblet filled with the finest wine
or a lioness ready to pounce.

Go and open the red door,
maybe there is a ring of fire,
one bucket of flaming molten lava
or a plump tomato on a tabletop.

In the Museum of Rooms

In the room of gold, it shone like the core of the sun.

In the room of life, there was the whole jungle.

In the room of colours, there was all of the museum’s art.

In the room of doors, there were many portals leading to a never ending corridor.

I want to paint

I want to paint…

I want to paint

A noble lion stalking the savannah, searching for a meal

A coral reef glittering with all the colors of the rainbow

A beach with shimmering sand like diamonds and the wide sea

splashing on the bay as the seagulls shriek

A field with bluebells coating the ground like mist at the foot of the trees

A wide, seemingly endless jungle leaning over your head

I want to paint

A wild dog, brown as mud, running riot on the freshly mown grass

A proud peacock, strutting as if on a red carpet with flashing cameras all around

An auburn rooster, crowing loudly when day comes

A mischievous monkey swing from branch to branch, banana in hand

A sleek, black witch’s cat tiptoeing around looking for mice

I want to paint

A round, orange pumpkin lighting the way on a winter’s night with its carved face

The dull, mirrored glow of the moon as it stares up into the radiant sun

A mountain with a snowy top, daring bold challengers to climb up

The soft scent of a warm cafe after coming in from a snowstorm and

how the cold feels like knives after leaving the warmth

I want to paint the bright white of seafoam lapping at your toes,

and the sound of laughter as you run away from the waves chasing your feet

I want to paint the scent of dewy grass in the morning, when the mist is thick as wool

I want to paint the end of this poem

I want to paint

I want to paint…

the red sunset of dangerous scorching flames as large as a bus, I Want to paint a midnight sky  of shining stars in the sky and falling in the sky.

I want to paint…

A flower blows to her pisces of life  in the blood moon of night,Iwant to paint a puppy jumping up in the blazing sun.

I want to paint the end…..
