Prehistoric Treasures

If I was created

to craft a treasure,

I would take:

the evil in a fairy tale,

a witches cauldron,

and the magic from a wand,

the power from a Tyrannosaurus rex,

the skull of a parasaur,

and the swimming ability from Sarcosuchus,

the torture from a victorian workhouse,

the pain of a war sword being impaled in your chest,

and the suffering of an evacuee,

the piles of gold from the wild west,

a robbers wealth,

and crown jewels from Queen Victoria,

a galaxy far far away,

and a hyper sonic space shuttle,

a lizard scouting the forest,

a komodo dragon roaming around Galápagos Islands,

And an iguana going for a walk,

the french revolution dominating France,

Jean-Jacques Rousseau bossing people around,

and rapiers banging together.

What are?

What are blunt? The used blade of a battle sword, the front bumper of my mum’s Volkswagen and the top of a pinecone.

What are sharp? A spike piercing through an intruder, a butter knife slicing through butterfat and the pointy claws of my Ragdale cat.

What are smooth? The featureless pebble at the bottom of the lake, the soothing skin of a baby and the wood underneath the bark of a tree.

What are rough? The irregular rocks up mount Everest, the jaggy bark of a sycamore and the metal jagged ironspike from Podkin One-Ear.

What are delicate? My mum’s ornaments on the mantelpiece, the fancy plates from Home Bargains and the wine glasses from a deluxe restaurant.

What are durable? The enclosed wall of a nuclear bunker, an oak tree towering over and a boulder on Mount Snowdon.

What are spongy?  The carpet of moss on the forest floor, the mouldy apple in my fruit basket and my memory foam mattress.

What are solid? A painted concrete wall, a bar of 24 carot gold and a glacier barging through ice.

Chapter 2

The streams of the sun barely saw life, but then there was a rustle in the bushes and leaves that Pipkin had set down on the entrance of the tent. Two red eyes peeked in,Pipkin froze in fear that it might be a Gorm scout, though the figure outside was just wondering what was in side. The red eyes were just the reflection off of the rabbits eyes from the lantern. Pipkin gave  a sigh of relief, but when she thought she was secure there was a deafening battle horn. She quickly woke up Pookin and Pebbles and they ran out. They saw archers and soldiers getting ready for battle though the Kingdom was outmanoeuvred by the Gorm. The Gorm shoved their way under the soil and ended up into the town. So the nation opened the portcullis and the remaining rabbits fled. The band of rabbits made their way to the next location on the map.

As they proceeded to their next destination, they were being soaked by the amount of rain there was in the plains, which made it harder for them to travel.Their old ragged boots were getting filthy and muddy. Pebbles was still asleep in Pipkins’ tunic. The troupe were freezing, they just wanted to get some warmth.

Soon enough, the cast of rabbits found the next place on their map. It was a small fishing town, which their warren were allies with. Their destination had been reached, so they made their way into one of the inns and they stayed there for the night . So with a few stolen gold coins , they could afford a room and with the room they get free food. Outside, they could see the rain and the black stormy clouds and inside there was a drawer, two beds and few lit candles scattered around the room. As they were getting used to the new room, they could hear the floor creaking and the rabbits downstairs. They liked this place though they knew they would have to leave because of the terrorising Gorm. From downstairs they could hear glass being smashed and people shouting.

Loud footsteps were heard slowly traversing up the stairs. Pipkin said to get a hiding place, so Pookin went under the single bed and Pipkin and Pebbles hid under the double wooden bed. Suddenly, their door to the room blasted open, they were silent. Pookin’s heart was beating so fast that he thought that the intruder could hear it. Pebbles started to say “soup and pike” but luckily the rabbit was deaf. Pebbles then began to wiggle out of Pipkin’s arms and to the other side of the bed. Unfortunately, Pebbles crawled out from under the bed and then the two siblings knew that their life was on the line. They knew they had been caught.

The deafened rabbit was not the best at fighting and was extremely slow. So without thinking, Pipkin grabbed Pebbles and ran out of the room, Pookin was left with the rabbit. All of a sudden, Pookin remembered the blade that his mother had given him before he left. So he whipped out the blade and started to battle the rabbit. Pookin found it easy to battle him because of how slow the rabbit was. So it was an easy win and when he defeated the enemy he shouted in happiness.

I’ve never

I’ve never blown up the sun with a nucular bomb,

but I have made a splash of water with a pinecone.

I’ve never journeyed to the Galapagos islands,

but I have travelled to Mount Snowden in Wales.

I’ve never eaten the sacred skin of a dragon,

but have consumed a hot dog from Tesco.

I’ve never seen a giant snail dashing across the forest,

but i have observed a robin fluttering over the country park.

I’ve never stroked a unicorn’s fluffy mane,

but I have comforted my dog Deric in the car.

I’ve never met Mickey Mouse at Buckingham Palace,

but I have enjoyed a picnic with my friends from Bury St Edmunds.

I’ve never been on an expedition to find the mysterious BigFoot,

but I have been in a Easter egg hunt in my garden

I’ve never enjoyed a banquet with a triceratops,

but I have been for a carvery at Mr Gs.

I’ve never launched myself out of a giant cannon,

but I have tossed myself into a pool at Methwold.

I want to paint

I want to paint –

the children playing peacefully on the slippy slide, falling fatefully on to the floor,

the birds singing shyly in the treacherous trees,

the whistling wind penetrating my jacket, catching my breath,

the flappy fish swimming freely in the lake,

the bees buzzing around their hive, collecting precious pollen

and the scent of dancing daffodils releasing a luscious looping scent.

I want to paint-

the birds singing like the sound of rain drops,

the hyenas laughing maniacally like monkeys in the trees,

a bear roaring as loud as a jet, about to take off,

the screaming sounds of monkeys like a relentless river down hill

and a dog barking like thunderbolts, echoing in the sky.

I want to paint the smell of fresh food, cooking in the kitchen.

I want to paint the sight of many people walking all at once.

I want to paint the sound of cars flowing through the city.

I want to paint the feeling of the wind blowing in my face.

I want to paint the taste of time passing by.

I want to paint the end of this poem.
