As she fell, Ellie watched the mist part and a mysterious island come into view. She saw that furious thunderclouds were scattered across the horizon, blocking the view from a skyship. A fiery volcano was angrily spitting out lava and spurting smoke onto the endless fields of mud and the great valley in the centre of the island was the only part of this windswept landscape that was getting any sun.
As she fell further a row of piercing rocks lining the edge of the island came into view. The volcano’s smoke made her cover her nose as she hit the ground with a thud and the smell of ash wafted around. In front of the volcano three snow-capped mountains towered, making a home for some mountain goat-like creatures. The mysterious, eerie forest in front of the mountains looks like the kind of forest that holds dark secrets. In the distance, a glistening lake shimmered in the shining sun above it. A beach bordered the front of the lake and behind it there was a buzzing woodland. An island stood proudly in the middle of the lake, calling for her to walk over. Hastily, Ellie stood up, shaking, and stumbled in the direction of this curious island.
As she started walking, she looked around in search of her crewmates. She could see smoke billowing from an island just south of the island she had crashed on. To her annoyance, she didn’t know how she had managed to survive a fall like that. She must have fallen 500 feet at least. Ellie had never been in a life or death situation before as she was on her first skyship adventure and had never left Hailsbury, her town near Nondon, the capital city of Kingland, before. All of her friends were surprised she was picked to go on the adventure of Niceland, which was where they were racing other teams of explorers to get to first. Suddenly, she had a thought. Was this Niceland? If it was, it wasn’t anything like the old runes described it.
Through the mountains a river flowed until it came to an abrupt stop because there was a bubbling waterfall that showered the island on the edge of what looked like a cliff. It threw the water into a fast-flowing river that stretched for miles on end, until it hit a border to a snowy winter-wonderland and froze. Ellie thought that this snowy wonderland looks like it always has non-stop snow all year round. Suddenly, a small movement caught the corner of her eye. A creature that looked like it was part jaguar, part hedgehog and part something that looked mythical leapt out of the bushes next to the waterfall and jumped about 6 foot into the air. Ellie realised it had caught another creature that looked part terrordactyl, part pigeon and part reindeer.
In the centre of the island Ellie saw a valley that dipped to the record breaking 1,000 metres below sea level. Luxurious green grass smiled in the everlasting summer heat that every child Ellie had known dreamed of. The perfect flowers seem to wave at you from the blocked off valley, not knowing what was happening outside. Off into the distance, a welcoming woodland was orange from an Autumn spell. She walked closer but the smoke from the volcano drifted past and her and she snapped back from her trance. She suddenly remembered where she was and walked back towards the island paradise she was focusing on walking to.
