Moon Flyer Part 3

A high-pitched whimper woke Susan from her slumber. She looked at Tom, who was gently snoring. Deciding not to wake him, she bravely walked towards the noise. She froze in time, shocked at what she saw. A tiny rabbit-like body lying life-less on the ground, let out a cry with every breath. Steadily, she crouched down, careful not to make any sudden movement to frighten the creature. As her hand reached out to touch the fragile thing, a sense of calmness ran through her. Susan pulled the creature onto her lap. Her eyes softened when she noticed an injured wing type arm. She headed back towards Tom to get her first aid kit with the creature. She grabbed the bandage from within the first aid kit and carefully wrapped it around the wing. “All better,” Susan said, pleased that she had comforted the creature.

“Who are you talking to Suzie?” Tom questioned; he looked up and saw it – panic overwhelmed him. “That’s a baby Hader!” Tom screamed.

“Its mother will search for its child and find us with it and eat us up for dinner!” Tom said with his face going red. He marched towards the Hader and picked it up. “Where are you going with him?” Susan pleaded. Tom was running so fast she couldn’t keep up with him. As Susan caught up with him, she saw what he was staring at: Mother Hader.

Skyship – Part 2

Susan scratched her head and shouted for Tom, “Tom! Tom! Tom, where are you?!”

“Over here Susan,” yelped Tom

“Tom, we need to get out of here before it collapses.”

Susan sprinted to the deck, but Tom was limping behind her. “Susan we are going to have to jump!” They held hands and jumped off, landing in the woods.

“Tom are you alright, you were limping?” questioned Susan. She lifted up his trousers a bit and saw blood. “You’re bleeding Tom, I need to put a bandage around it.”

As Susan took care of Tom’s damaged leg, Tom looked around their surroundings, concerned they weren’t safe staying on the unstable ship.

“Susie….we really need to find out where we are.”

Tom and Susan stared at the land in front of them; the air was dry and the wind was still. They noticed the sun was nearly falling out of their sight. It was time to find safety. The only noise that could be heard was the rattling of the ship parts breaking. Linking arms, the friends walked forward.

There were millions of giant oak trees as tall as houses and as wide as buses. Magical mushrooms glowing as bright as lights and spitting out some kind of unknown purple dust. There were bushes with shiny red berries, which when eaten give you night vision. Tom knew this from survival books. Loads of sharp pointy grass grew in the direction of the sun, alongside thin leaves that were bright apple-green which would never fall off the tree, even if you pulled with all your might.

“We must be at Gonegoo Forest, we mustn’t stay too long,” Tom told Susan.

Susan looked at him concerned. Without speaking she nodded.

They started making a campfire; the billowing smoke reminded Tom of his Mum’s bad cooking back at home. The warm flames directed the miniature flying Bingles from them. Bingles were microscopic deadly bugs like mosquitoes but more violent and only coming out at night. In the distance, a bang startled them, a storm rolling over the bumpy snow drenched mountains and they knew Haders would come out, so they hid under a tree and got some rest.

Moon Flyer

You’ve probably been on a sky ship when the sun rays are beaming down on the deck, warming everyone on board. Remember the ice-cold wind brushing your hair, and the rattling sails catching the wind as you move through the sky. Remember watching from the deck as the sun rises and sets on the horizon, as you relax. I bet you’ve enjoyed the relaxation on board, the amazement of finding new islands never seen, having a pint with friends and helping family members.

You may have tried a trip when the sky ship croaks while a storm attacks it from above, for that is another matter. When the hail comes down, it’s like a meteor shower with an objective to destroy the sky ship and the raging tears of the sky flood it too. The sky ship will start to slow and tumble to the ground. That’s when an air ship ride is not so much fun.

People say Haders lurk in the blue sky, hiding behind clouds, not to be noticed by humankind. You probably don’t believe these stories, but a crew once said that they saw a beast, as large as a truck, talons as sharp as a sword, that could destroy any level of sky ship, and teeth as straight as a ruler, used for sinking into any victim.

ZAP! “Wow, that one nearly hit us!” shouted Tom from above deck, “Look Silk, the sky is alive with electricity.”

“Are we nearly there yet?” sobbed Susan, “Come on Susan, enjoy the ride.” Tom cried excitedly, “Ok I’ll try,”

“That’s the spirit.” The sky ship was heading further into the vicious storm, where the dangerous electric Haders lived. “Just a question, but why do you always play with that sprite?” Susan questioned. “because he’s my friend,”

“It’s a sprite!”

“So what? It can be my friend.”

BOOM! “Huh? What was that?” shouted Susan, frightened by the noise, “we’re being attacked by Haders and the ship is going down.” Although Tom was brave, at that time, he feared what was to come. The lights were flickering, and the ship was tilting, getting pulled down by the weight of the Haders. The sky ship went into emergency mode to keep in the sky, but they knew it would go down at some point. They felt helpless.

They were all going up and down corridors grabbing anything they could to help them survive. Silk was flying around panicking and not knowing what to do to help them. The Haders were as large as a double decker bus and as frightening as a three-headed lion. CRASH! The sky ship had crash landed in the middle of nowhere. How would they survive?
