Letter

Dear ma

Thank you for the basket of fruit that you put in my bag. That was really sweet of you- and very yummy. The train ride was very interesting as I made a friend – Joan- who was almost as kind as you. We chatted for a good 3 hours until she had to go – but for the last hour or so of the trip I gazed out of the window.  I was very lucky to get a window seat because the train was packed to the rim. I saw a  whole load of what I now know are called cows – although I have to say they looked a tad harmful and had mad staring eyes but apart from that I didn’t mind them.

A couple of minutes later I made yet another friend called Josephine who was from Birmingham. When we arrived at our stop we were put to a halt because of the rain but eventually we got on the move again .

People were now starting to choose the children and after about five minutes I , and very fortunately my friend (Josephine) was picked at the same time as me!  We were adopted into a very kind family who even have a dog. It was a German shepherd .

I share a room with Josephine in the attic. It is so cosy.- Bella, the name of the dog, slept in the attic next to our bed! We live on a farm and have very simple chores -witch I love. We have to take care of the chickens , milk the cows and shear the sheep. It is great here and I’m having a really fun time with Mrs Cherral – but it isn’t as good as it would be if you were here.

I’m missing you loads.

From your Son

Daryl.

JOY

My joy is capable of –

Spliting the rocky mountains into two like a piece of paper

its company can brighten up my day in a split second

It can fix a broken heart with a smile

Its helpfulness is a great addition to the universe

I found it –

Clutching on to the shoulder of a giant

Holding on tightly to an arctic fox drifting into the darkness

Stuck crammed into an ancient , stone building

Scrunched into a tiny ball in an eagles nest.

This joy is made from-

The moss of a 150 year old sky scraper.

The silence from a well behaved class.

The glory of a person who had just won the lottery.

The fire from a Dragons Breath

I lost this joy –

At the tip of the Burj Khalifa

Leaving me depressed.

Mr Chippys

Dear Sir,

I am writing to inform you about the upcoming events on the local calendar. There are some incredibly outstanding things for the upcoming future.

First, there will be a procession through the town, consisting of a wide variety of contributions. Anyone involved must take good care not to get in the way of the crowds or there will be an invincible line. The mayor will judge the best baby competition. While that’s going on, you should get some food and get yourself down to Mr Chippys and have a drink.

After that, there will be a dance display in the town square. If you are watching, please stand back so you don’t get in the way. The market will be open all afternoon.

Finally, the firework display will be held in Prince’s Park at exactly six. We hope you all have a wicked time.

Yours faithfully,

Billy Bob Kramer

To use cohesive and a range of sentence starters

Long, long ago the was a poor girl called Polly. She lived in a flat that was slowly starting to decay. There was also insects around her house like spiders and cockroaches. One time she heard a squeaky noise in her kitchen, so she went to check it out. Strangely enough, her picture of her dad, which was  the day before he died, had fell in the sink and weirdly had blood everywhere. After that, everything started to fall apart. All of the items that fell were everywhere: cutlery, plates, pans and cups and also in her bedroom; makeup, mirrors, plants and her wardrobe. She went downstairs to tellher neighbours but unexpectedly there were only zombies. Then she knew she was doomed. Forever.

Polly

Long, long ago there was a poor girl called Polly, who lived next to the beach.

She had a strange, Little cottage with a rusty bike, but she was happy.

Early one morning, Polly went for a walk to collect shells.

She collected flat shells, curved shells and thin shells.

Suddenly, Polly found the most beautiful shell she had ever seen. Lying next to a rock pool!

Slowly, Polly bent down to pick up the shell, which was glistening in the sun.

To her amazement, the shell spoke. “I will grant you two wishes so choose wisely!” said the magnificent shell.

The Forest

Bob, who walked down the forest on the edge of the coast, was a private investigator. As he looked at the pond, he saw two big very dark clouds that were about to empty. He looked at the rocky mountains and the ancient trees. As he arrived at the forest, he looked out of the window: he saw the cars and vans which were full of mud; dirt from the track splashed on the car lights and rain crashed against the window screen. There was spooky fog, long grass (that has never been cut) and dead bushes (which have never been watered). Where would we start looking for the missing boy? A car engine started… and drove away quickly.

The Storm

The bus stopped before a man came in front of it causing the passengers to lean forward. While the man ran to the house, he fell over on the curb. The old man sat on the table before the people came in to the house
