Chapter 4 Turkeymander continued.

Turkeymander continued.

Chapter 4

Violet says to the Turkeymander “ It’s ok!” in a low soothing voice. “We are leaving, we just got here by mistake” she says. “Violet!”I whisper in a hurry. Vi runs quickly to me at the side of the cave. The egg shines with little specks of golden dust.

The Turkeymander steps back gently and tilts its head and sticks his tongue and squakes and squakes again. Then it stops and stares at me.  Violet takes three steps back and quickly runs to the left side of the cave. I am left alone and I stand there frozen to death. Violet starts to talk again to the Turkeymander, “can you let my friend come to me?” she asks. I run to her and the Turkeymander jumps into its nest. At the same time I am thinking,” it’s working!”

“We’re leaving now”, Violet says to the Turkeymander as it retrieves its claws back and nests its head on the straw.I see the dark windy sea in its eyes and the squawking seagulls and spot it’s teeth hidden in again in its shell like beak As we pass it I think, safe at last.

Outside, I take a deep breath of salty sea air and sigh in relief. Inside, we hear the turkeymander shuffle tightly near its egg and gives a sigh as well and falls to sleep hugging closely to its egg safe and sound. We smile at each other and walk away.

By then the mist had cleared and puffed out of sight. A sparkling moon through the creeping misty hills. Everything is as still as the gravestones in a graveyard. We walk past the restaurant and the promenade.”No one must find the cave”. Violet says in a whisper. “Even the local council”. I know what to do, I’ll show you when we get back, her face and body shaking still as she pulls me by my hand and we both run like the wind.

But by the time we get home, the town awakes. The golden sun shines like a light bulb to the world. The light ends at the front of the Grand Nautilus Hotel in my cubbyhole. Once we were there, we looked out the window and we saw a boathook man waving at us through the window glass. By the time we get to the museum the morning traffic has begun. Cars trickle past us and we see they head to the seafront car park.

I fiddle with the keys and shove the door open. Inside it is freezing and cold.Outside I could still hear honking from the cars out there and at some point, I think I need some quiet .I hear people coming through the front double doors and book in saying hi at the same time as they do it.We look at the beach both thinking the same thing.

All day, violet had her nose in all the books I had. Ancient stories and racing game books. In a leather case she found in a log and she read out the title out loud,” captain k’s log” I jumped in surprise and came over to her and read, “ written in 1986”. It’s a story that no one really knows. The rock was covered in tiny specks of gold. They kept the thing but that night, something or someone attacked like the taurus fighting the man. At some point, it turns out that the story is real and good but undiscovered. The rest of our discussion continues with violet.

The rest of the evening we chatter about it all. Our adventure has only just begun.

Turkeymander chapter 3

Turkeymander continued

Chapter 3.

Four days later we were in the laundry room eating fig rolls and drinking some tea, talking. At the same time, violet says, “ But I’ve seen it!” She exclaims in a hurry. Outside, the rain drizzled making the mist rise like the pollen from flowers. Inside, we sit and eat in low, deep silence like squirrels on branches. Then she says, “ I know where it lives!” in a loud voice. I eye her suspiciously and keep quiet. I can only hear the rain dripping and dropping.

It turns out that violet has spent 6 hours in the frosty, wet weather trying to find clues up and down Eerie-on-sea. Violet claims to have seen the Turkeymander’s footprints on the wet sand just like the ones at the haunted arcade. Except these were by the rocky caves.

I lock up the front doors near the reception, and close the doors, shut the blinds and turn off the lights before we step out into the cold but this time I make sure that I bring the hat instead of the cap in case the wind blows. And so we leave. “It’s pretty dark out here!” Violet says. “Don’t worry I’ve brought torches” I say as I turn one on and give it to Violet. It turns out that I have a pack of nine duracell batteries just in case. We reach the caves and as soon as we reach the front of the caves we can clearly see footprints.

I hadn’t believed her until now but the footprints are quite clear and deep. There are two sets, one leading to the town’s arcades the other to the caves. Violet steps inside and I follow in and I also turn my torch on. I look around and I can see so many crystals and diamonds, jewellery and a crown. Violet starts to touch and wear them all. Then, we hear a growl. Then everything went black.

A light shone above an egg, a red one, and then all the growling stopped. Violet stops and stares at the egg and feels it and touches it. Then, I turn around to leave but face a creature still growling then starts to attack us and tries to hit us. But I grab the torch and shine it at the shadow and.. There it is the Turkeymander! Violet steps forward, I step back…

The Turkeymander

Chapter 2.

We stood seated for a while before I asked “ what did you spot?” Outside the wind is still picking up, inside we sat in silence only hearing the crackle of the fire. Before she responded I already got ahead with what I think she is going to say. I think she might claim to have seen the Turkeymander.

Fifteen minutes later, we were outside in the harshness of the weather walking as fast as we could, trying to fight the storm that was punching us the opposite way, retracing violet’s  footsteps across the pier. I know I should’ve stayed inside drinking some tea but I had to go, I was curious! All I can say is that violet is the most hurried person on the planet I have ever met. The misty wind is blowing so hard I can barely see where I’m going so I hold my cap and put a hat on just in case it blows off. Distant clouds float amongst the dark sky and drops of rain start to splash and crash on our heads like the little pebbles hitting our hats and coats trying to pierce through.

We scurry past the salamander fish shop, muller restaurant and Mrs shark’s Toy shop full of beach toys. All of them are stationed against the pier and the windy storm. Finally , we reach the arcades and we waddle inside. Immediately, I spot something ready to pounce on violet so I panic not knowing what to do.

Outside the wind is still howling so much that it manages to smash the glass. Inside the floor is covered with bits of glass. Then, I hear a low growl and see two minty green moving around looking at violet and then something pounces out the shadows and breaks through the door and out. We follow it just in case it returns to the town but instead it stops, turns its head around and with a mighty leap jumps into the life-taking, bitter-cold ocean. We stop, looking at each other I say “ Lets get back to my cubbyhole and drink some tea.”

The Turkeymander attacks.

Prologue

You’ve probably been to Cheerie-on-Sea. In summer you’d probably have leapt into the warm splashing waves and built sand castles. When you visited, there would have been an ice cream van that served rainbow coloured ice-cream with all different flavours. It that kind of place… in the summer.

But you should try being there when the cold wind blows and the bitter frosty wind blows at a tremendous speed, blowing the letters C and  H of the sign and the  only thing that would’ve been left would’ve been Eerie-on-Sea. At that time there were few visitors. Some say they hear strange howling noises in the background of the sian and the wind. The pressure of the rain and the cry of the wind give a good basis for people to keep away.

Chapter 1.

My name is Alex Watermelon but most people call me Alex W for short. I work in the front desk of the reception as a receptionist located at the entrance to the hotel. I take care of the people coming in and out of the hotel booking them in once they come to the reception. Someone once told me that this might be the most annoying, exasperating job in the world – this is not true!

A girl taps at my window in my little cubby room and breathes out the words let me in! I let her in and she fell in a heap on the floor. She picks herself up and dusties herself off. I sit on my cosy armchair  and wait for her to finish wiping herself off with her hands. After she finished, tell her to sit down on a box. After that I ask her a couple of questions but she doesn’t answer. Immediately she says in a panicked voice, “ Hide me!”

Before I continue this story, I will unfold the history of our little outdated town of Eerie- on- sea. Long ago, there was a legend, a local legend of a mander which, every night at 12:00 am starts to lurk out of the salty sea. Locals always kept off the pier at that hour closing their curtains and locking their doors up. This mander was known as the Turkeymander. When Locals hear this creature flapping its wings and squeaking up and down the streets, they quickly get into their houses and get down their most useful weapons such as: Guns,Knives and nets, ready to attack.

Some say the creature must have got lost in the sea and came ashore. It is reported that this mander must have run out of food and came into our town to attack. Some people think it needs a medical veterinarian’s help. I’ve never seen or heard of it at night but when it turns dark outside and the wind blows it does make a strange sound of wailing or it gets mistaken for something or someone skulking.

“ Why do you need to hide?”I say. “Whats wrong?” “ I’ve seen it!”she says “ Look smart -draw the curtains!”

Turkeymander in danger

The Turkeymander in danger

The Turkeymander is a rare species closely related to a turkey due to how his face looks. Unlike  the usual turkey, the Turkeymander possesses scales for agility in water.

Turkeymanders are easy to spot, due to the fact that it;s recognizable on land and on water not blending in with its surroundings. This type of creature is very popular, but due to the fact that it is hunted down, not many of these species live the loving freedom. Turkeymanders all have: a fishtail, gills, sharp beaks, fins and flippers. For protection, Turkeymanders always use their beak and tail for defence. Compared to other turkeys, the Turkeymander does not have feet. They feed on: fish, earthworm shells and seaweed as well as water snails. At night time, they hunt for little sea creatures and other glowing plants in the deepest parts of the ocean.

This creature has become a legendary figure for all of us and any other fish. Compared to any other sea monster, it finds seeing in the dark a piece of cake. Sightings are rare at night time in water or land which makes it a relaxing sight. The turkeymander is also known all over the world.

This animal is highly hunted down and sadly not many of these types of species still live in their homeland seas and beaches ( that rarely get cleaned up.) Save them before it’s too late.

The Brandon walk of exploration.

On Monday, I find animals of different kinds,

Robins; It’s little wings flapping  helping it fly like the wings of a jet,Seagulls; It’s bright-white coloured feathers, Muntjacs; their stocky, smooth fur, shining like the spotlight in the sun, their little horns like the bumps on the road, and deers their little hooves lightly trotting away, like the cymbals on a drum helping it get away from dangers, thick, demonic arms.

On Tuesday,I walk to River Ouse and start throwing pebbles across the wavy, crystal clear water waving through the swishing through the gentle water like the turbulence of the wind.

On Wednesday, I saw a: squirrel, a deer, a stag and a powerful, strong horse.

On Thursday I touched a soft, furry dog walking past me. His fur, like the comfy pillows of a king-size bed spread like the wings of a sharp-beaked eagle searching for prey.

On Friday I smell the fresh morning air, the smell of fresh cooked breakfast and the roses and flowers, their smell like the perfume on the bricks tattered, uneven road making the scene as pleasant as a fresh baked cookie.

On Saturday, I found three new friends and I also found out that friendship never ends.

On Sunday, I dream of friends, sunny days, fun activities, and new findings all in the same boat.

The Journey

Chapter 1 – On the run

That evening, a letter had come saying that the Gorm were not far from their base. No one would be secure or even safe. They had built a tunnel many bramblemas’es ago for emergency problems, but now, the walls were too weak to hold the weight.

So, it was then that the three little rabbits Peter, Percy and Pip left home to the caves so they could get help. They entered the tunnel, said goodbye and slid down the slide to escape. First, they would have to pass through a bitter, shadowy forest but they would have to rest because they were tired from all that sliding.

Grasping the prehistoric map, the little group of bunnies walked over the rope bridge that cut across the flowing water of the river Grimheart. Soon, they were in the woods making their path through the foggy, mystical woodlands to what they thought would mean safety. Long, misty trees towered the way ahead as they followed the ancient paths. Percy took the lead, tucking his cloak closer, he continued  trudging on as the wind blew to his cold, icy face. Wherever he looked, he pictured devil-like eyes staring at him as if he was their prey.

Maundering behind, Peter and Pip were chatting to one another while Percy kept walking at the front. As the sun began to fade, and the shadows of the wood came in, they made Percy halt so they could build shelter. Together, they dragged twigs to an old oak and soon they had built a safe enough hut. Percy put grass on the gaps that were in the roof until it was secure.

That night, they ate apples and oatcakes and ate the bread and cheese their mum had packed. They were fast asleep between their shelter’s. Some branches were put by Peter on the roof hoping it would be a camouflage for prying eyes.

As Percy drifted to sleep, his mind was to the Gorm moving in the dark. Would they reach safety or not?

Chapter 2 – Goblin Castle

That morning, they woke up, looked up and saw the bright blue sky. While they ate breakfast, they planned their next destination. At that same time, they heard the metallic clanking of metal so they thought it was the Gorm. As they looked up, they saw a metal crow flying above.Percy and Peter stared at it with alarm. The Gorm must be near, Peter said lets pack. So, they packed their food, destroyed their shelter and left.

As they left their shelter, they looked at the map and found out that it would be a long journey so Percy said, we can rest when we get there, as they walked along the icy, snowy path.Peter asked Percy who was holding the map, how long have we got left? Not long, we just have to cross that bridge ahead and go through the forest, but be cautious of the Goblin Palace; it might be anywhere around.Once they reached their destination, they would have to eat they had no food left Peter would have to steal some food from some market stools without being caught. It’s a hard job, but someone has to do it.

Can they get there without being caught by the Gorm?

Chapter 3 – Trouble

So, the little rabbits arrived at their location and built a shelter in an abandoned barn. They ate their left overs and Peter said they should go on a walk.So they ate their food, drank some juice, grabbed their coats and left. As they walked along, they met an old rabbit and she let them in.

As they sat around the fire, Peter,Percy and Pip and told the old rabbit what their job was. After that, the old rabbit asked ‘ How can I help’? Then, the rabbits said she could come with them on their way. So, the four rabbits set off again to their next destination which was Great Darmouth Warren which was not a lot of yards away. As they walked along, Percy remembered the lullaby that their mother used to sing at their bedtime and end with a touch at their noses  which was called, on the wintery path and when she ended she would always say goodnight.

But suddenly, there was a rustling at a nearby bush, they turned their heads as quick as a flash to see what was going on. Peter said, ‘ I’m going to check the bush out’ he said bravely, ‘you stay here okay?’ Then, the Gorm grabbed him and Percy by the arms and said, ‘Who are you?’ Peter said in a shivery voice, ‘ I’m Peter’ he said in a shaky voice. Then, they got put in a cage. Luckily, the old rabbit was nice and went after them creepily.

Will they ever escape?….

Chapter 4 – Freedom is on the way

So the little rabbits got captured in an old, rusty, musty cage in the Gorm’s lair. The air smelt as bad as an old rotten tree that was struck by lightning. The smoke, which rose like steam from a train, went through Peter’s nostrils and had an effect of disgust on his face. On the ceiling, hung rusty, metal chains like serpents hanging from tree branches.

Then, at that moment, Peter rose from where he sat and exclaimed,’’ We have to escape!’’ ‘’Shh!’’ said Percy ‘’ You’ll wake them up’’ Luckily, the Gorm didn’t hear. Percy found out he had the key to the cage door. So he placed it in, turned it, and with a loud screech the cage door swung open. At that moment, Percy grabbed Pip and Peter by the paw, and jumped screaming as they were in mid air. At a short time, they landed on the other side.

As they ran, Peter took out the little map and said, ‘’we are here, and we are heading here’’ he said as they exited the cave and that they were near so they just needed some transport to get there, but who? Then, a mighty dragon flew and landed in front of them on the rocky, uneven ground. They climbed on, and at that moment, the creature took off with an almighty jump of the rocky valley.Peter told the mighty beast, that they were just going forward and so that’s where they went.

Would their family ever be safe again….

They remained at their destination a few years and took off again on the 19th July 1956.
