Star Shiner Contd

The Star Shiner took off from her landing spot and flew through the blue sky.

About an hour later, Charlie had noticed that the sky had gone from a lovely blue colour to a dismal grey. He called out to Sophie and asked for her help to guide him through the low-flying clouds. Sophie then appeared, wearing her tool belt as always and the map in her right hand.

With help from his sister, Charlie soon piloted the ship away from the clouds and into a clearing of blue sky. Charlie told Sophie that he would never have been able to fly through that maze of thick clouds on his own. At that moment, he heard a scrape against the hull of the ship. “Did you hear that?” he asked Sophie. she shook her head as if to say no. Charlie hoped that it wouldn’t be anything bad.

He glanced over the edge of the sky ship and there was nothing. It must have been my imagination he thought to himself.

Star Shiner Contd

The next morning, Charlie woke up and found that Sophie was already up and about and had started to make her breakfast. They both had bread and jam together with a glass of orange juice; they would need a lot of energy today because they would be flying the sky ship for a long time today.

Charlie and Sophie clambered up the ladder to get to the deck of the Star Shiner. Sophie was checking the sails for damage while Charlie started the powerful engine. Sophie then called out to Charlie to come and see something. One of the sails had been damaged! Charlie knew at once he had to repair the damage so he went down below deck to find some canvas. Soon after he went below deck, he successfully returned with a large length of canvas.

After half an hour, he told Sophie that he had mended the sail and that they would be ready to take off.

Star Shiner

Charlie and Sophie clutched the railings as the sky ship lurched to the right. The rain soaked the ship’s sails and it drenched them both. They had a large bulk of supplies that they would need for a few weeks. They had been going for a day now and had only passed the city due to the strong headwinds and the storm.

Without warning, a large dragon flew overhead and breathed a great ball of fire. Luckily, the rain from the storm put out the ball of fire. Then the dragon retreated, but not for long. Not long after the dragon had disappeared, he came back. This time with a group of them and they breathed together to make one big ball of fire. Charlie and Sophie both got out the water cannons and set the pressure to high. The canons shot out gallons of water and extinguished the fire ball. The dragons were out of fire and flew into the foggy night sky.

Charlie then noticed the storm was clearing up and the visibility was better. He then thought because the weather had died down they could do with a bit of time and camp on land. Charlie pushed the lever down and the ship slowly drifted down towards the ground. Once they could clearly see the ground, they spotted a flat clearing where they could land safely.

The ship landed and Charlie and Sophie got off and set up camp. It soon got dark and Charlie went to put out the fire he had lit earlier. He then thought he heard the sound of dragons, but it was late and his mind was probably playing tricks on him. Sophie did not appear to hear anything, so he asked her would the dragons come back?

Six things found in a sky ship explorers rucksack

1. Camouflage clothes so I cannot be seen in a forest.
2. A flashlight that doesn’t require batteries if I need to do things at night.
3. A net that is as strong as chrome steel for catching cave elves and goblins.
4. A device to warn me if there are any dangers nearby.
5. A map that shows every body of water.
6. Spare parts for the sky ship if there is a crash landing.

The Dragon

The dragon stops

and glares over its shoulder.

He stomps the floor like a

mighty earthquake with his foot.

It has a tail shaped like an arrow
that can be used as a whip.

The teeth are razor sharp

like daggers pointing up.

The leathery wings glide

through the skies.

Weather

You are the sun shining down.

You are the rain tumbling on the grass.

You are the snow drifting along.

You are the lightning cracking through the night sky.

You are unpredictable.
