My eye flinched. Suddenly, I noticed a shadowy silhouette though the dusty telescope. It was getting larger and clearer. Initially I thought it was another skyship, a skyship like ours.
“What is that in the distance? It is very faint.’ Aurelia exclaimed to me. She was a small, pretty girl with long blonde hair who was very shy. She was my soulmate because we had known each other since we were born.
“Gimme that,” barked George, grabbing the telescope from me viciously, almost poking my eye out! This was normal behaviour for him. What happened next was not. “Aaaagh!” he shrieked, “l…l…l…look behind you…Muuummm!!!” and he ran away into the cabins below, crying inconsolably. He scrambled to hide under his duvet, his stumpy legs sticking out.
As I turned around I was astounded by the sight and smell of an enormous dragon’s mouth right in front of me. Its repulsive drool dripped onto the platform next to me.
“Get down!” shouted Aurelia confidently, and I saw her clutch the wheel of the skyship and spin it round. The terrifying dragon whipped the ship with its mighty claws and I heard an unmistakable hiss of escaping air. The ship was punctured and we began to tip dramatically to one side. In a fast spin we headed towards the ground.
I remembered my training, grabbed my mystical wand, and, with all my might, cast a spell to prevent the fall. The skyship softly bounced onto the golden dunes below.
