The Great Escape

Chapter One

The Gorms attack

Three children Popkin, Pasco and Baby Pip are getting dragged up the stairs and into the bedroom by Aunt Patrica. “Why are you taking us into the bedroom?” exclaimed Popkin “Father is being attacked.” The children listened to the chaos outside, terrified for their family, while Aunt Patrica wasn’t worried and looked for something. A few minutes later she pulled out something covered in a Christmas cloth and handed it to Popkin. He unwrapped it and inside was a magical sword, it had a note on it. “This magical sword can cut through anything apart from iron. Gorms are iron, head to toe.” Pasco mentioned.

Aunt Patrica tried to push them under the bed as they kicked off because they needed to help the warren, not run away from it. While Baby Pip relentlessly cries for his mother, they could hear the terror-stricking of Gorm’s footsteps getting closer. The three all fell into the tunnel.

They looked at the amazing brick walls and all the different routes and directions. There was no lighting, no sound, just the darkness. Multiple of the forty two thousand routes were dead ends. Pop and Pas decided to stop for the time being and have a sleep. Popkin woke up and went looking for a shimmer of light, then came back hopeless. “Hang on, where have Pip and Pas gone?” Popkin said bewildered. He continued to look. “AHH” he screamed “AHH” goes another voice. “We’ve been looking for you for ages and why did you run off!” They all went back to sleep but little do they know, the Gorms are ripping and moving everything in the house…

Chapter Two

The journey continues

They ran out into deadman’s forest to find a little trail of iron. Popkin followed the eiron until Pasco told him to continue straight. He went left while Pas and Pip went straight. Later they both met and stopped for a rest, robotic, iron crows got louder as more came along. They set off to find a Warren-Inn.

At the warren you could hear the calming tweeting of exotic birds. Pop and Pas took Pip over to the playground while they watched the trees sway in the wind. All three of them went into the warren-restaurant for some food as none of them had eaten for a day! Pas heard crows, she knew they had to escape. More and more crows came along and followed all the way. All of a sudden, they heard footsteps of hungry beasts which got louder and louder…

Chapter Three

Captured

Pop and Pas sat down to have some tea as they were cold. Pas looked how tidy it was until she saw a Gorm helmet lying against the wall. She nudged Pop although he didn’t understand. “We’ve got to go, now” Pasco whispered . They walked out the door and then ran as fast as their little rabbit legs could take them.

The three escaped the warren all worn out. “Lets have a break” Popkin muttered. Later on, they heard footsteps. Quickly, Pop dashed out as being as scared as a spider about to get trodden on. Bang! Popkin tripped over a tree root and his head went rolling along the floor. Pasco picked it up and got some spider webs off of a tree to stick it back on. As they were about to go, a big shadow appeared from behind them until everything went black.

Popkin and Pasco woke up telling each other that bruises covered their faces. A few minutes later Pasco realised she was restricted to move and then noticed that her and her brothers were trapped in a submarine with the Gorm leader (Scramashank.)

Chapter Four

The great escape

The gorm followed them out of the submarine. All three of them were surrounded by magma and the gorm. In a blink of an eye all the gorm were gone. “W-w-where did they go?” Pip mumbled.

ARH ARH, something cried from above. “Run!” Popkin shouted. A big shadow appeared over them. The children looked up and screamed, it landed right in front of them like it was trying to guard them. Pasco felt the dragon only to feel rocks. “Ow” she moaned, “that burned my hand.” You could hear more of the dragons coming and then the loud echo of gorm footsteps

“Run the gorm have guns.” The magma dragons made a big shield while shooting fire. One by one the gorm got blown away. Scramashank put up a battle with all his layers of iron but they managed to burn all of it away.

It’s only just begun

Chapter 4

We saw light, we legged it. I was getting closer to the light until the dolphamander was right in front of us. “We aren’t here to hurt you.” Johnny said in a calming voice, trying to hide his fear.

The Dolphamander paused and it seemed like it was understanding us as it tilted its head. “We’ll look after you, and your egg.”We held our arms out, showing that we weren’t a threat. The  Dolphamander laid itself on the floor and rested instead of looking like it was going to attack us.

“We’re leaving now” Johnny tells it. I took a sigh of relief as we walked past it and towards the light.

Outside, I heard the waves splashing against the cliff. Inside, I heard the flopping of the Dolphamander as it went to check on its egg to see if it had hatched.

The mist had cleared when I woke up the next morning. The shouting from down on the beach woke me while I was having a good dream. As I was getting dressed, I remembered what had happened yesterday. A few minutes later, Johnny was banging on my bedroom door trying to tell me all the amazing ideas he had so that nobody found the Dolphamander and its egg.

After he told me his ideas, we went for a walk along the cliff edge. The sun made shadows of us. I looked down at all the shadows of everyone that was down on the beach. I saw Larry setting out all his deck chairs in case his customers want to sit down and eat their ice cream. Then I saw Mrs Seaside setting out buckets, spades, towels and surfboards.

I always forget which key to use to open the shop door, I fiddled with the keys until I had the right one. It was cool and quiet inside but soon it’ll be bustling. My mind races. Can we keep the Dolphamander safe? Can we keep this a secret?

Johnny had been walking around, so I headed to the back. He was looking at the sea glass. He started to look at the blue sea glass, one bit had cracks in it, Johnny looked at me and said, “The Mander egg.”

For the rest of the day, Johnny had his nose stuck in a book. He told me that if a fisherman saw a Mander, they’d kill it. I was thinking all night, I didn’t even get the tiniest bit of sleep. The next evening we had a chat.

Our adventure isn’t over; in fact it’s only just begun.

The Dolphamander’s Escape

Chapter 2

“What’s your name?” “Oh yes I’m Johnny, Johnny Rancher” he says joyfully.

About thirty minutes later, we heard moaning outside so we looked outside and saw luminous red eyes going into the Fish ‘n’ Chip shop. Me and Johnny put our coats on, grabbed a torch then we went to follow this mander!

When we got inside I turned the torch on and told Johnny to stay at the door. I saw red shining on a wall, smelt fish and heard munching. As I got closer I heard flopping going away from me. I went into the kitchen and fish were sliding along the floor. After I smelt the fish, saw the fish and heard flopping I knew it was going to be the new species of mander. The Dolphamander! The problem is that the Fish ‘n’ Chip shop is so echoey that it could be in a room so far away but seem so close to me.

I ran back to Johnny and told him that we both had to go in and look for the Dolphamander. Johnny was really helpful and stayed with me the whole time. First, we checked the stockroom; no luck, so then we went to check the toilets then we heard a loud scream right in front of us. Me and Johnny opened the toilet door, the Dolphamander saw us and then screamed extremely loudly, deafening us. I ran back to the door with Johnny following me and the Dolphamander following Johnny. As soon as we thought we were dead, it ran straight past us and through the glass, I ran after it to see fog and nothing else.

Dolphamander tales

Dolphamander

Prologue

You’ve probably been to Cheerie-on-Sea. In summer, you probably made sandcastles and leapt into the waves. When you came here with your friends you probably went to ice cream world and got your favourite flavour. You probably went to the fossil museum. It’s that kind of place… in the summer

But in the winter, you probably felt the bitter wind driving the rain. Your parents probably kept you in your hotel room, you thought they were protective, however the waves crashed over the cliff. Even locals kept away from the beach… and some say they have a good reason.

Chapter 1

My name is Thomas White and I work in the Local Gift Shop. Most people call me Tommy. Someone once told me that my job must be terrible, however I quite like it. I have a little room in the back which has a little heater and a comfy bed. I’m lonely at night but I have good company from customers… in the summer. Sometimes it’s not too busy in the winter, only a few people come a day, if not a few people then no one comes at all.

Just as I was putting some sweets back on the shelf I heard a noise so I looked down at the bottom shelf and a boy was lying there eating rock. “Hide me!”

Before I continue with what happens next, there is one story about our town that I should tell you. It happened so long ago that no one remembers the dates or much of the detail. Local legends say on misty, cold nights they can hear it howling, someone said that when he went on a walk they saw luminous red eyes.

Some say it was hungry. Some say it was angry. Some say it sought a lost child that had wandered ashore. I personally never heard or saw it but that was because I never opened a window or went for a walk on a gloomy day. The wind does make strange noises so that might be mistaken by something crying.

“Why do you need to hide?” I hiss at her. “Why are you hiding in my room?” “I’ve seen it!” she cries “Lock the door!”

Seaside Town

Both the hotel and our lovely town have many positive reviews and we regularly see some celebrities come for a visit.

Our hotel has 5 star service with our food, kind staff and room service. Rooms have squishy pillows and amazing mattresses. The facilities in the sports hall are a good place to calm down, especially the pool.

Book your holiday by the end of February and you’ll receive an accommodation upgrade.

On the beach, the sand soothes people’s feet. You could even go for a dip in the warm, clear water. Next to the beach there is a waterpark with the biggest flumes you could imagine! Everyone in the local area have big hearts.

So why not come today?

Millers Lane

A Simple Request

It doesn’t have to be the sharp and smooth flint houses on Gashouse Drove,

Or the Muntjac deer hopping through the forest,

Or the Squirrel watching us through the window as it’s big, bushy tail wraps around the tree branch.

It could be a glint of a crushed, broken up can left at Millers Lane,

Or the cheering of the crowd as the ball flies into the net,

Or the frozen cobwebs shining in the middle of winter.

Be as mystifying as a detective trying to solve a case;

those never sleepers,

Notice how even the mundane can now become historic,

Even just the tiny observation of a bridge covered in icicles can amaze someone.

The Baby Forest Unicorn

How to look after a baby forest unicorn.

Have you just been given a baby unicorn to look after? Fear not. Read these instructions and you’ll be a unicorn pro and you’ll be able to watch it grow.

What you need:

A comfy bed, apple trees, orange trees, a little pond for swimming and drinking, grass, leaves and plenty of kindness.

First, create a big, enclosed space for your baby unicorn to run around.

Next, provide a pond, a comfy bed and a shed so that it’s warm.

Then, make sure the pond is clean enough to drink out of so that it isn’t bad and unhealthy.

Also, play around with it because it loves running and cuddling. You have to for at least 2 hours per day (both added together.)

After that, take your majestic forest unicorn and let it show you it’s amazing swimming tricks as they love swimming in their spare time.

Later on, feed it because you don’t want it to be hungry and not grow.

Finally, put it to bed and relax because it’s a tiring job, but you’ll get the hang of it.

Unicorns make wonderful pets but eventually it will be able to look after and hunt for itself. If you treat it well, it’ll return. Unicorns are faithful to the ones that treat them correctly.
