Rusty dusty bike
The bike has been left to rot beside a tree,
Its handles bent back like broken bones,
Its seat not touched for millennia,
Its wheels now owned by moss,
The brakes were pecked to pieces by the birds,
The headlights can do nothing but flicker,
The cherub sat atop, stopping the bike from escaping its demise,
The webs have spread and corrupted the remaining healthy parts.
Hi Finlay, thank you for posting your poem. I really like the choice of vocabulary you have made, especially the use of the word “corrupted” in the last line. What did you mean by the phrase, “The cherub sat atop”?
