Wolf

You are a wolf.

You linger around the lake,

staring into the distance,

as the sun sets into eternal void.

You are a wolf.

You watch drowsily,

as the moon comes to replace to the star,

feeding us with warmth.

You are a wolf.

Curling up in a cave,

getting ready to sleep,

but a noise keeps you pierced awake.

You are a wolf.

Following the quiet chirp,

growling from time to time,

twisting and turning through the dark forest.

You are a wolf.

Finally spotting the source of the noise,

you creep up to the bird,

and pounce at it, scaring it.

You are a wolf.

Staring pitifully at the injured, dying bird,

you pick it up and walk slowly to your home cave.

You are a wolf.

You place the creature down,

you nuzzle you snout against it,

and cover it, with a grey, autumn leaf.

You are a wolf.

Sleeping away at midnight,

silently healing the bird with your

invisible love.
