Hidden treasures

Your eyes are like blazing coal embers,

Ready under small-provocation to ignite.

Your talons and fangs are sharp as stalactites

Ready to rip apart the spoils your flights

But

Your soft belly s black as the darkest of nights,

Protected by those cavernous wing, that soar you up to avoid fight with

flight.

At first we only see the terror, as  our spine runs cold with fear

But if brave enough to trust you, it is your beauty that is breathtaking as we creep near.

Your skin glitters like rubies, your back ridge dotted with pearls

When  you trust those eyes dance like warm lovers’-candlelight, as the

Blackness swirls away like scales.

You are one step away from fire and tempest, but one from protective

embrace

You are scary because of expectations, and fear of loosing face

These treasures we only see when we stop provoking you, attacking you like

you are cursed

With you, like us humans , the best is hidden, until we are seen as, and still

loved at, our worst.

  2. lorna your poem was excellent because you used lots of descriptive language and similies
