The Dragon Stands

Dragon Poem

The solemn, soul-consuming dragon stood as still as a person infected by Medusa’s curse.

Its lifeless eyes staring into the distance waiting to feed itself with a predator of the east.

His velvet wings brighten up the town with a gleam of marron light

As it exhales fire people scream in pain and agony as they’re being demolished by its wrath.

Unique silk, skin gives an ominous feeling to anyone who gets a glimpse of it.

As he stays on his rock, he lets out an obnoxious roar petrifying any bystander to cross his path

The helpless humans not knowing what to do just accept their fate as they try to avoid eye contact.

They say he is undefeatable but really, he is just evil, inevitable and hard-hearted

His horrible head watches you from above as you pray you come out alive.

He stands, the posture of a Cobra, the eyes of a lizard, the soul of a demon.

  1. Charlie, I love the last line of your poem! It paints a very powerful image of your dragon.

  2. I liked this poem for many reasons but my favourite reason was the way you used Medusa in a really clever way with the dragon staying still.

  3. I think it was good because there’s a nod to ancient mythology charlie from leo

  4. I am attracted to the name and when I tread it I feel that the poem is even more attractive!
